Soft notification sound chimed on his phone, and taking a quick scan of his phone, he saw the alert of his package arriving downstairs.Sighing the caregiver got up before walking quickly to check on his little one who was napping peacefullyQuickly making his way down the hall of his building and to the elevator. Collecting and signing for the large parcel, taking it back with him to his apartment
Arriving at his and Lynx's shared home, he ungracefully opened, trying not to drop the parcel. Walking in and placing it done before letting of a sigh of relief.
"What's dat?"
Lucas jumped slightly at a sudden voice next to him, which cause Lynx to let out a soft giggle.
"Bambi don't sneak up on people." The caregiver chided unseriously
knowing it wouldn't interest his little in not being able to raise his blood pressure after all it was their favourite thing to do.
"Upps"
Was the littles only response as they raised their arms wanting to be held. The caregiver lifted them off the ground, placing them swiftly on his hip before frowning in confusion at the little's single socked foot
"Bambi?..." Lucas asked
The little hummed in reply, settling themselves in their caregivers' hold.
"Where's your other sock?"
Lynx sighed dramatically, rolling their head back as if it was the most tiring question they ever heard
"Someone stole it." they simply replied
Lucas frowned, wanting to let out his own sigh
"Is the sock golbin back?"
The caregiver knew it was probably lost in the mess of blankets on Lynx's bed, shimmied off by the twists and turn the little did in their sleep, but the little was one for dramatics.
"Yuh huh, he's back, and he took my paci Bunbun. Yous gotta catch em."
Lucas looked at his little amused at the serious tone they had. He would have dig through the hoard of blankets to find the pacifier as well as the lone sock
Going back to his original plan, Lucas sat his little on on his lap while opening the package.
"Chiquita hands away, please,"
The caregiver instructed when Lynx reached for the scissors, not wanting them to hurt themselves
"Nuu I wanna open."
"Let me cut the tape first these are really sharp kay?"
The caregiver gestured to the scissors he held away from the squirming little who only responded with an exaggerated huff flopping back on their Bunbun's chest
"Thank you" he mumbled back
Finally opening the box, he pushed the scissors out of reach and watched as the little explored the box with enthusiasm throwing the packaging wrappers aside, grabbing what they wanted which was a bag of sour candy.
"YAY" Lynx hoped off the caregiver's lap opening the bag
"Not all of it bambi."
The caregiver gave his little a look that went ignored as they sat down in-front of the television happily watching cartoons. The caregiver sighed before he started packing the new bowls he had gotten after the last ones got 'stolen'
By stolen, lynx decided to feed all the neighborhood cats by opening up their very own cat restaurant in the back of the apartment complex unfortunately that meant forgetting all the eating bowls outside by accident
When Lynx told him about the cat restaurant, he wasn't surprised, three weeks earlier he came home to them on the balcony with a bag of birdseed trying to lure birds in so they could train them to carry messages
'we'll save on texting' as they so proudly put it.
When he eventually went back to get said bowls, they were all gone, he assumed one of the neighbors either threw them away or took them for themselves and he didn't feel like going door to door asking for his kitchenware or answer why the bowls were outside in the first place
Sighing as he put the last of the bowls back before turning back to the box to throw it away only to find it missing from the dining table. Thinking it was back in the kitchen he went to check only to find it empty.
'Maybe Lynx knows where I put it' Thought the caregiver
Walking to the living room he found the box, Lynx apparently decides the box was their new favorite spot as they were snuggled happily in the box with their bunny teddy. Lucas took the opportunity to sneakily take away the bag of candy away so there were no arguments.
...
"Hun its bedtime please get out the box"
"Nu my box!"
Pinching the bridge of his nose Lucas sighed, he was at his wits end, he could understand
Lunch in the box
Dinner in the box
All afternoon in the box, this box had become quite the attachment for Lynx and a pain for the caregiver
"Lynx. you. can't. sleep. in. a. box." exclaimed the caregiver
"Wess. I. Cans."
The little replied in the same tone making the caregiver frown once again he'd get early grey hairs at this point. Looking over he saw the time it was 30 minutes past their bedtime he had to give to the kid they could stall an argument longer than a lawyer with ten-year experience
"Okay...you win you can sleep in the box"
He looked down at his little a smiled at their confused face
"I will" Lynx replied grumpily
"Good night, Hun, sleep tight"
So, the caregiver left a confused little to their own devices was it a gamble given their peculiar and chaotic history, but it was worth a shot, getting ready for bed and slipping into a comfortable bed...waiting...
He dozed off for a little while before he heard shuffling of the bedding and smiled to himself
"Bunbun" whispered the little
"Hmmm?"
Lucas hummed back tiredly and slightly amused, the little shuffled closure
"Cuddles?" Lynx asked softly
"Yeah baby come here" the caregiver asked
Opening his arms the little happily settled next to their caregiver giving a content hum
"Wove Bunbun"
"Love you too bambi"
With both of them content Lucas held his little closer and stretched out his legs only for his foot to hit something on the end of the bed, frowning he opened his eyes and squinted in the darkness
"Is that-"
"My box."
