Regular Sundays were spent getting things for the house, something Lucas loved to do as boring as it could be he found it relaxing, and Lynx, on the other hand, was bored out of their mind. Standing next to their caregiver while they picked out things they would eat for the next week was so mundane and calm
Lynx was only here because they couldn't be by themselves when they were this small in headspace. Luckily, they were promised a treat for coming with their Bunbun and behaving
'Bunbun is lucky I bein goods' the little thought nodding themself
Looking at their joined hands, they rolled their eyes at the precaution their caregiver took in public spaces, pulling on Lucas's hand to get his attention
The caregiver looked over at his little, curious to what they wanted
"Yeah, lovey?" he replied
The little just pointed over to the end of the isle where the sweets and chips were kept
"I did promise you a treat, huh?"
Lynx nodded in reply, looking expectantly at their caregiver before holding up 2 two to him, hoping he'd understand
"Yes, two treats only because you were good at daycare this week,"
*Lynx holds up three fingers
"Don't push it," the caregiver warned
The little huffed and went off on their mission, they were going to pick three just in case.
"Stay in this isle!" Lucas said nervously
Lynx made a noise of understanding before skipping their way to 'the happy place' of the store they saw another little there probably doing the same thing as them, the other littles caregiver seemed to be on the phone a few feet away from them
Ignoring the little, Lynx leaned over, grabbing a bag of sour patch kids before looking around for their next candy. Not noticing the other little frown at them
"Why do get two candies?" the little said annoyed
Lynx looked proud they usually weren't allowed two bags of candy their Bunbun was annoyingly strict about sugar and their food, but because of how good they were this week Lucas said they could have two whole bags and even take some to stupid daycare this week.
The other little didn't appreciate Lynx's non-verbal response and knocked a bag out Lynx's hand, making it fall to the floor.
'MY CANDY'
Lynx glared at the other little how dare they, fair is fair, so Lynx reached out their hand smacking the other littles candy packet they held, making the little tear up
'Big baby,' Lynx thought
They leaned down to grab their sour patch kids off the floor when they heard a more annoying voice than the little in front of them, the little caregiver.
"HEY, how dare you!" The shrill voice could make anyone cringe
Lynx certainly did
"You brat didn't even say sorry I should -"
"You should what?"
Lynx looked behind them to see a very upset Lucas, which was not new but rare. The caregiver was usually calmer one of the two, always 'taking the high road' whatever that meant.
"This little yours?" the woman asked, annoyed, looking between Lynx and Lucas
"Yes, and you are bothering them,"
Lucas replied, inching closer to Lynx protectively
"The brat was rude to my little make them apologize."
Lucas frowned, looking between the two littles he didn't see what happened, so he turned to his little and asked
"Who started it?"
Lynx boredly pointed the other little who had big crocodile tears, the little watched as their Bunbun cringed at the big messy tears,
Bunbun was a weird caregiver he never reprimanded Lynx for their messiness or even flinched when Lynx got sick and threw up, but he would avoid other littles still being polite to them but never took interest in them, only other little he cared for sometimes was their friend Iris or Sisi on playdate.
Lucas hummed in understanding. That's all he needed to know before he said
"Bambi, get your candy. we're done here,"
Happily, Lynx got their candy together again before Lucas picked them up, placing them on his hip and walking back to the abandoned shopping cart. Leaving the woman and her little shocked, Lynx looked over their Bunbun's shoulder and made faces at the woman and dangled the bags of candy in front of the crying littles face
'meanies' Lynx thought
...
Lucas was unpacking the groceries while his little one was resting on the couch. Frowning, he unpacked Lynx's candy to see three bags he paused for a moment
He was so upset with that woman at the store he didn't even notice
"Lynx, why is there -"
