"I cannot do this to my son." Neytiri whispers.

"Nothing is set in stone yet, baby." Jake replies

Neteyam's eyes flutter open and closed. The light of morning seeps in through the trees and warms Neteyam. The air is crisp and a light breeze blows past the slumbering family. Neteyam's two siblings are cuddled up beside him, but the warmth of their parents is missing.

"Ma'Jake."

"Hey, let's just see how this goes, OK? If he doesn't want to then we won't."

Neteyam sits up and rubs his eyes, looking at his parents. Neytiri turns to speak with Jake, but she catches sight of Neteyam. "Neteyam," a small smile finds it way on her lips.

Jake turns and looks at him. The two move to sit next to him, "Hey, buddy, what are you doing up so early?" Jake places a hand on his back.

"I wanna practice my bow." He mutters. "What were you talking about?"

Neytiri plants a kiss on his forehead and brushes his hair back with her hand, "Don't worry, my love. It was..." She trails off and purses her lips.

Jake glances at her before continuing, "Neteyam, when you are older you will be Olo'eyktan. You know this, right?" He nods. "And one day you will find someone you will spend the rest of your life with."

"Your mate." Neytiri adds. Jake cringes, as he is still not used to the word.

"Well, your grandmother has picked out a girl for you." Jake smiles.

Neteyam nods along, and he briefly wonders why something like this has been decided for him. Though his naivety and respect for his parents halts him from refusing them. There's only one thing her can wonder: "Who is she?"

Neytiri grabs his hand gently, "Alyara."
