"Y/N..."
"Hmmm." The group were now walking through hot lands as Asriel and Frisk led the way with Chara and Y/N standing a few feet behind.
"Are you okay?" Chara asked as she tried to gage Y/N. Y/N let off a confident laugh as he asked.
"What makes you say that?"
"Because... Frisk said that you looked hurt." Chara stated as she felt saddened. Y/N raised an eyebrow with a confident smile as he kept walking.
"Do I look hurt? Not a scratch on me."
"That's not the type of hurt I meant..." Chara felt scared... uneasy... and sad all at once. She felt worried for the man, who kept a confident smile. However, this smile wavered ever so slightly and Chara saw it.

"*chuckle* come on Chara, what do you take me for? A wimp who can't handle his emotions?" Y/N asked as Chara sook her head.
"Not what I meant whatsoever... It's just I'm worried about you." Chara finished as Y/N wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"Ah no reason to worry about me princess." Y/N smiled, however this smile seemed... fake. As if Y/N wanted to get something off his chest but didn't exactly know what or how to actually get it off his chest so he kept with his confident expression as he hoped Chara would be satisfied. Yet, she wasn't.

"But I do. You said it back in snowdin, your past... it was kinda shitty. You said you got abused in the orphanage you went to. Is that why your hurt?" Y/N stopped as the two in front turned to look at Y/N.
"You two... go on ahead. We'll catch up." Y/N pleaded as they nodded before walking on ahead.
"Y/N?" Chara said as confusion whipped her mind.
"Chara... do you want to know what happened..? Or are you just saying that because you feel bad?" Y/N shot Chara a depressed look as the girl waved her hands in defence.
"W-what? No! I really want to know what's up with you!"
"Then I'll tell you... you see I had a brother in the orphanage..." Y/N stated as he felt himself grow weak. Chara listened carefully as Y/N started off.
"Really? Where is he now?" Chara asked as Y/N growled at himself. He was an idiot. This girl had opened up to him so he only felt that it was right to open up to her.
"Dead..." Y/N bluntly stated as he felt himself tear up but he gulped hard to keep himself stable.

"Oh I'm so sorry... we don't have to talk about it if it makes you feel... like this." Chara sadly comforted as Y/N shook his head.
"No... no, it would only be fair to tell you... considering you've opened up to me twice now... and I've shown nothing in return.... Your right, the orphanage we went to was abusive... extremely abusive... and I did well to protect my brother from the fuckers that ran its wrath... I take beatings for him, all so he didn't have to deal with it... but one day, like the selfish bastard that I am, wanted to leave. So at 16 I left the orphanage by escaping. But... I had left my brother."

Chara placed a hand on Y/N's cheek as she used her magic to see what he was thinking.

Flashback

Chara and Y/N we're standing in a corridor as Y/N looked down in shame. A younger Y/N was seen leaving his room as a boy, who looked 13, followed him in a hurry. This was Y/N's younger brother, Ryan.
"So that's it then Y/N..." Ryan growled as tears ran down his face.
"Jesus Ry." That was the boys nickname given by his older brother.
"Your just going to piss off..." Ryan stated. The two watched the scene play out not saying a word. "No goodbye, nothing like that." Ryan started off again as the younger Y/N watched with a neutral expression.
"I'll be back by Christmas. Once I've sorted out a stable job, house and life for you and me. Once I've done that we can live a happy life together." Ryan grabbed younger Y/N's hand as he pleaded.
"Y/N! Please don't leave me alone with them! I can't hack it!" Ryan quietly shouted as Y/N turned back to walk away.
"You'll be alright..." The older Y/N then interjected. Not that either could actually hear him.

"No! He won't! Fucking listen to him!" Y/N begged as he fell to the ground as Chara looked at Y/N as tears grew in her eyes.
"No! Please Y/N!" Ryan now also begged as held onto Y/N's hand tighter.
"I'm going to end up fucking killing one of them. So maybe, if I'm gone they'll leave you be." Younger Y/N reasoned. The older Y/N spat at his younger self.
"You stupid fucking twat! Don't you leave him!"
"I gotta go. Ry..."
"Y/N please!" Ryan cried as older Y/N began to feel tears stream down his face.
"Give off! For fuck sake Ryan! It ain't my fucking job to look after you!" Younger Y/N walked away as older Y/N slumped before turning to his younger self.
"Please don't go!" But young Y/N had now left leaving Ryan alone.
