Out of Body Experience

As the time ticked closer to 8 PM, I found myself on my way to Lily's house. The evening air was cool, and a soft breeze blew through the streets. I walked slowly, trying to mentally prepare myself for the upcoming encounter with Luka.

There, a few steps ahead, was Luka, walking in the same direction. A mix of surprise and nervousness washed over me. I hadn't expected to see him en route to Lily's house.

He seemed to notice me as well, his gaze meeting mine. For a moment, we stood there, a few feet apart, the air heavy with quiet. I swallowed, wondering what to say or do.

The sound of screeching tires pierced the quiet atmosphere. My eyes widened in horror as a car sped towards Luka, moving at a terrifying speed.

Instinctively, I yelled out a warning, my voice filled with panic."Luka, watch out!"

In a split second, I leaped forward, shoving Luka out of the way just in time. However, the car didn't stop, and the impact sent me flying. The world moved in slow motion as I hit the ground, pain shooting through my body.

The force of the impact left me dazed, and black spots danced before my eyes. The sound of the accident faded into a distant hum, and my senses began to drown in a wave of unconsciousness. Darkness slowly enveloped me, and I was left lying motionless on the cold pavement.

As consciousness slowly returned, I found myself hovering above my own body. It was a strange and surreal experience, like watching a movie scene unfold before me. There I was, lying motionless on the pavement, a victim of the car accident.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This had to be a dream – a bizarre and terrifying dream. I pinched myself, hoping to wake up. But nothing happened. I was still floating above my own body, watching the scene in a detached bewilderment.

Luka, having been saved by my last-minute shove, realized the gravity of the situation. With a mixture of shock and panic, he took out his phone and dialed 911, his fingers trembling as he spoke urgently.

I continued to hover above my unmoving body, utterly stunned. The reality of the situation slowly sank in. Was this truly the end? I felt a sense of detachment, as if I was watching a scene from an outsider's perspective.

The sound of sirens in the distance echoed through the air, growing louder with each passing moment. The medical team was on its way, but it was too late for me. I was gone, and yet here I was, an observer to my own lifeless form.

Blinking back to reality, I found myself in a stark, white hospital room. I was lying in a bed, surrounded by beeping machines and a maze of wires connected to me. The room was cold and sterile, the only sounds coming from the steady rhythm of the heart rate monitor.

I sat up slowly, the weight of my own survival settling upon me. The events of the accident replayed in my mind, the images vivid and surreal. But how was it possible that I was here, alive and well, when moments ago I had been lifeless on the cold pavement?

Confusion and disbelief washed over me. I reached up to touch my forehead, expecting to feel the cold, emptiness of death. But instead, my skin was warm and alive, with the pulse of my heart beating steadily in my chest.

As the heart rate monitor's beeps filled the room, a nurse burst into the room, her eyes widening at the sight of me sitting up. The surprise on her face mirrored the bewilderment coursing through me.

The nurse started checking my vitals, her fingers gently prodding and poking as she monitored the various medical instruments attached to me. Despite her professional demeanor, her eyes betrayed a mix of wonder and relief.

As my gaze traveled around the room, I spotted the colorful array of flowers adorning a table. My parents' flowers were the most prominent, a symbol of their love and concern. But there were also flowers from Lily and from Luka. The sight tugged at my heartstrings, stirring a mixture of emotions.

*I turned to the nurse, my voice shaky but hopeful.*"Excuse me, how long have I been unconscious? How much time have I missed?"*The nurse finished taking my vitals and then looked at me, her expression soft but serious.*

The nurse took a moment to gather her thoughts before replying."You've been in the hospital for 4 hours now. When you first arrived, you were in a critical condition with severe head trauma and significant blood loss. The doctors initially thought the worst, but then something unexpected happened. Your vital signs suddenly started improving, and we managed to stabilize you. Currently, we still need to run some tests and observe you for a while before considering your discharge."

The room around me felt suddenly more claustrophobic. I wanted answers, but I didn't know where to start. The nurse continued her work, checking my vitals and writing notes on her chart. The machines beside me continued to beep steadily, a reminder of the delicate balance between life and death that I had just walked through

As the door opened, my parents entered the room. The moment they laid eyes on me, their expressions transformed from worry to immense relief. They rushed to my bedside, tears welling up in their eyes as they took in my appearance. My mother let out a small gasp, her hand covering her mouth as she fought back tears.

My father stood quietly, his strong facade faltering for a moment as he looked at me with a mix of fear and love. They both reached out to touch me, as if to reassure themselves that I was really there. My mother gently took my hand in hers, her fingers tracing along my knuckles.

"Oh, my baby," my mother whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "We were so worried about you. We thought we had lost you."

As my parents spoke to me, their words faded into the background. My mind was elsewhere, drawn back to the moment when I died. The memories flooded through my thoughts, vivid and chilling. I could almost feel the impact of the car, the pain, and the sudden emptiness.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. I looked up to see Luka walking into the room, a bouquet of flowers clutched in his hands. His expression was a mix of relief and concern, his gaze fixed on me as he approached my bedside

I couldn't help but notice the way his eyes roamed over me, as if checking for any signs of injury. He seemed to relax a bit as he saw that I was okay, but the worry was still present in his features.

Luka approached my bedside, his voice soft and tentative. He placed the bouquet of flowers on the bedside table, the vibrant colors standing out against the white blankets.

"Hey," he said quietly, his eyes searching mine. "How are you feeling?"

I opened my mouth to answer, but the words got caught in my throat. It was hard to find the right way to describe how I was feeling – a mix of relief, confusion, and disbelief. It seemed like such a simple question, but it held so many complex emotions.

Luka must have noticed my struggle, because he gave me a small, reassuring smile.

"It's okay," he said quietly. "You don't have to say anything right now. Just focus on resting and getting better."

His words were comforting, and I felt a small sense of relief wash over me. I nodded gratefully, feeling the weight of everything that had happened finally settling in. The room was quiet except for the steady rhythm of the machines

Just as Luka was about to speak, the world around me suddenly froze. The room went still, and everything was suspended in a silent, static moment. I looked around in confusion, my mind trying to make sense of why everything had come to a standstill.
