Although she was very sad that he said he didn't want to see her face, she was glad that he wasn't leaving her and was going to come back home after completing his studies and would keep visiting home during his holidays. She still remembers her mother's words:
"Shivika, you have to obey all your husband's commands. Never refuse him for anything. Once a girl is married, her in-laws' home becomes her own. Never give them a reason to complain, and never do anything that might make them abandon you. Always serve them. Because once a girl is married and her husband leaves her, both she and her family are left without honor. After marriage, a daughter is only acceptable in her parental home for two days; after that, if she stays in her in-laws' home, people start gossiping."
She remembered her mother's words and was scared that if he left her and his family threw her out of the house, where would she go? Her mother had already warned her that she would not accept her.
So whenever he came home during his holidays, she maintained her distance. She never came in front of him, only did all his chores, and then left. She was very close to Ayyan as she could only talk to him carefree. As her husband told her not to come in front of him and disturb him. She was too scared of her maasa and dadi sa to speak with them; she only replied to them and asked important questions. With his baba sa looking so strict and uptight, she never got the courage to speak with him, so she could only converse with his devar sa.
After 4 months
Rudra was coming home after 4 months and was excited to meet his family. When he reached home, he met with everyone but didn't see her. He didn't think much about that and was happy that she was not going to irritate him.
He was passing through a corridor and heard a girl giggling. He saw that she was none other than his little wife. She was running with his brother's friends and his brother was chasing them. He couldn't help but feel a pinch of hurt as she didn't even bother to look at him, and here she was playing with his brother. He felt possessive, thinking, "She is my wife," but then chided himself for thinking that and walked away.
His vacations weren't long and he had to go back.
In his studies and projects, he didn't notice how his little wife was avoiding him and trying not to disturb him. She asked Ayyan to wake up Rudra, only went to clean his room when she knew he had gone to take a bath, served his food, and quickly went to the kitchen. She gave him monosyllabic answers when required. He thought that she was finally getting mature and was trying not to annoy him, forgetting the promise he made to her in his childishness.
