"(Y/N)!"

Jennie sets her thousand dollar handbag on Hermione's desk and skips off to the CEO with a wide gummy smile on her features. (Y/N) lets out an exasperated sigh and turns her chair in Jennie's direction.

"Kim.."

"Are we on last name terms here?" Jennie pouts. "That's not what you used to call me, you know?"

Hermione's standing by the doorway with furrowed eyebrows, arms crossed over her chest. Jennie has a hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder and Hermione swore her eyes rolled so far back her head that she could've seen her brain.

"Remind me why you're here again?" (Y/N) has a bored look on her face. "I don't recall having any business concerning Chanel. Or you in general."

"I'm here for you, silly." Jennie ignores the CEO's nonchalant attitude. She's smiling down at (Y/N) and Hermione wants to shove her face down on a working stove.

"Remember our days in Japan? You were so—"

"Miss Kim," Hermione speaks up, her tone icy. The pair look at the brunette. "I brought you here for the sole purpose of business. If what you have to say doesn't concern that, then I'll have to escort you out. You're wasting my boss's time. If you'd like to say something unrelated to her, feel free to send the message through me."

Jennie has a scowl on her face, and the brunette just glares at her with a determined look. (Y/N) just wants to die on the spot.

The black-haired woman turns back to look down at the CEO, she leans down to her ear and murmurs. "Don't think I'll give up on you so easily, baby." she smirked and pulled away.

She grabs her handbag from Hermione's desk and walks to the door. She walks out, but makes sure to give the brunette an obvious roll of her eyes.

"Are you gonna tell me who she is?" Hermione spoke to (Y/N), her tone just as icy when she spoke to Jennie.

(Y/N) sighs. "Granger, she's just a frie—"

Hermione clicks her tongue in annoyance and doesn't bother to hear (Y/N) out, far too deep in her pool of jealousy that she built herself.

"If you had a girlfriend in the first place, you could've just told me you know?" Hermione said as she sat by her office desk.

"What the fuck? You think that low of me?" (Y/N) looks genuinely abashed and surprised at Hermione's accusation.

Hermione doesn't answer and just starts typing away on her computer, knowing that she should probably shut up. But then she hears noises by (Y/N)'s desk, and she finds the CEO putting on her coat.

Her throat goes dry and the pool of jealousy shifts to anxiety.

She's never got over the fear of (Y/N) leaving her.

"Where are you going?" Hermione's voice comes out so much weaker than before, her hand on the keyboard is trembling slightly.

"I'm so over this."

(Y/N) grabs her coat from Hermione's coat hanger and puts on her shoes. The brunette shoots up from her couch and she's crying tears of frustration.

"So you're just going to leave??" Hermione questioned while wiping away her tears. She's hurt. She's frustrated. "You know what— just go!"

"I will."

(Y/N) walks out of the front door and she hears a loud slam from behind her the moment she stepped foot outside. She stops in her tracks, frozen in place.

Hermione's back is against the door, sliding down till she sat on her floor. Tears are streaming down her face and she has to put effort into controlling her breathing.

(Y/N) could hear it all. And every sob is like a stab at her heart.

"You're leaving?"

Hermione hates how weak her voice sounds. She hates the way her breathing is going erratic. She hates the way (Y/N) won't look her way.

"I'll come back."

(Y/N) is already by the door and she doesn't look in Hermione's way. She walks away, but turns to look back at the office which is surrounded by glass walls, so she can still see the brunette.

She watches as Hermione brings a hand to wipe away a tear.

And she knew, that if she were to travel in a thousand different lifetimes, she could never deserve Hermione in any of them.

...

Hermione returns to her desk after a bathroom break. She finds a paperbag on her desk, along with a fresh cup of coffee. Did Cormac bring this for her?

She finds a note attached to the paperbag; I'm sorry, forgive me?

It's fresh cookies from Madam Puddifoot's cafe.

And suddenly, a hand is on Hermione's head, and (Y/N) is leaning down to press an apologetic kiss on her temple. Her lips linger there for just a few seconds, and Hermione flutters her eyes close at the feeling, savouring every moment.

They're still the same as always, but she thinks that they're a bit better this time. And that's enough for her.
