Keith thought long and hard about going to see his family again. He ain't want any part in his father's side of the family. Keith gets out with Risha by his side.
"Keith?" A little girl comes up hugging him.
"Damn, little daisy. You got so big, " Keith said, seeing her run off. Keith takes a deep breath before going inside the building.
"You good?" Risha asked.
"It's been 10 years since I've seen them," He said, standing by his truck.
"So what made you come?" Risha asked, fixing his tie.
"Shit, grandma. She is the only one I visit from time to time, " He said
"What is you ain't telling me?" Risha asked, looking up at him.
"A lot." He said, grabbing her hand as they walked inside the building
"Keith?" His uncle Raymond said, coming up to him. "Damn boy, look at you. And may I ask who this pretty lady is?"
"I'm Risha," She said, smiling.
Keith's Grandma comes up kissing him on the cheek. "Glad to see you again, Risha," She said. "Come on," she said, grabbing Risha's hands and taking her away from Keith.
Risha looks back at Keith, smiling.
"Keith Davis. The man of the hour. " His favorite cousin came around the corner saying.
"On what you back?" Keith said, happy dabbing u with him. "Since when? And why you ain't never hit me up?"
"Shit, I just got back today. Being in the army a motherfucka, " He said, smiling."But you? What you got going on? I see the suit, the bodyguards."
"I'm a businessman now. You know I wasn't going be like my pops, " He said
Keith and Nelly were close growing up. They always stayed around each other. As they got older, they just went they separated ways, but always stayed in touch.
"Nobody did. I'm glad you're straight, though. And now I'm back for a while. We need to catch up, " Nelly said
Risha is in the kitchen with Keith's grandma, two aunts, and some of his older cousins.
"So, how did you and Keith meet?" His cousin Dorthy asked.
"I spilled my drink on him at Starbucks," Risha said, smiling
"OH, I know he was mad," Dorthy said
"I think his bodyguard was more mad for him than he was," Risha said as they laughed.
"You know, you are the only female we've seen him with," his cousin Taylor said
"So you never met his wife?" Risha asked.
"WIFE? Since when was he married?" His grandma said
"Okay, maybe I didn't need to say anything," Risha said, not meaning to say anything if he ain't told them.
"Girl, Don worry about it. Keith is very private with his life, " Dorthy said
"Yeah, too private," his grandmother said
"So what you do?" Taylor asked
"I own a clothing store," Risha said
"Really? Need to come check you out, " Taylor said
"Ladies," a man walks into the kitchen. "Hey ma," he said, kissing her on the cheek. "Who's this pretty lady?" He asked, grabbing her hand.
Keith walks into the kitchen with Nelly seeing his father touching Risha's hand. He walks over, moving her hand, making her stand up.
"Son I ain.."
"Thank your mother, 'cause I wasn't going come,' he said, being smart, cutting him off.
Risha looks up at him, seeing a whole different side.
"Still not trying to give your father a chance?"
"Did you give yourself a chance to set yourself on fire?" He asked, standing face to face with him.
"KEITH!" his grandmother said
"I ain't think so," Keith said, feeling Risha push on his chest.
"Keith! He's still your father, " Taylor said
"He ain't been a father since he had my mother killed. He wasn't a father when he ain't give a fuck about me in that house right?" Keith asked looking at his father.
"I'm still your father even if you like it or not" He said pointing his finger at Keith's suit. Keith pushes his hand away.
"Don't fucking touch me?" Keith said
"Okay babe, let's go cool down" Risha said looking up at him while he stare down at his father like he'll kill him.
"Let's go" his grandmother said "NOW BOY!" She yells
Ryan walks in smiling "Fuck going on?" He asked seeing his father shaking his head. Ryan shakes his head too.
Ryan knew his father was fucked how he did Keith mother, but he always seem to be around him his whole life without question if he'll do the same to him and his mother. Ryan would brush it off though.
"You again" Ryan said looking at Risha.
"No , it's you again" Risha said getting irritated by him and she sure didn't hide it. She ain't give a fuck who seen her face.
"Damn, you act like I did something you" Ryan said
Risha smiles "You didn't Ryan. You didn't at all!" She said getting up going out the back door.
(Backyard)
Keith walks on the back porch with his Grandmother breathing heavily undoing his suit taking it off.
"Calm down!" She said
She was the only woman in his life who had raised him, bathe him, taught him how to save, move different. He respected the only mother he knew .
"Sorry ma," Keith said
"I know you hate your father. I couldn't forgive him for it neither. But I had to. And I never forgot. You got to hold yourself together. Look at me boy" she said walking up to him in his face.
Keith looks down at his grandmother with tears in his eyes.
"I know the pain. I know the hurt you feel. Don't lose yourself everytime you see him."
As tears come down his face.
"Son. It's okay"
"Can't stand to look at him. I can't stand the sight of that man. He ain't my father. He's nobody to me" he said wiping his face.
"And you stand on how you feel. I would never take that from you. You're a grown man now." She said seeing Risha come out "Get yourself together " she said kissing his cheek walking back inside.
"You okay?" Risha asked coming up to him wiping his face. She see the hurt.
"I'm good. I'm ready to go" He said grabbing her hand walking back inside. He kissed his grandmother and said goodbye. He couldn't stand being there and his father present.
