The very next day had come, Nolan woke up groggily to a call from his boss, rubbing his eyes as they fluttered open. The call didn't last more than a few seconds, Nolan failing to pick it up before it hung up. He sat on his bed, reaching for his phone that rested on his bedside table. His tail swayed from side to side as he saw a notification from his boss, which came in at 7 AM. He opened the DM, replying to it in the process.
He shot up from his bed, making his way to the door as he picked up his keys and ID. He opened the door before him, walking outside, to the corporate building as he closed and locked the door behind.
Though taking quite a while, he managed to make it to the building in 40 minutes approximately. He walked in to the building, scanning his ID. The automatic door opened, so he made his way to the Boss' office. He knocked on the door, and after hearing a faint 'Come in', he opened the door, stepped inside, shutting it after.
"You called, Boss?" Nolan spoke, sitting down on the couch.
"Yes indeed, Nolan." His boss stated, going through some papers before him. Nolans tail swayed from side to side as he patiently waited for his boss to continue. His boss was a rather confident looking guy, but his appearance assured comfort in a way. He had a scar on the top of his hand, left behind by a mission.
"This mission is on this Sunday. Target plans on going to some concert of some dude named Yael, so we're going to get him before he steps in the concert building. Intel shows he's quite a big fan of this guy." His boss explained, a stern tone as he looked down at his papers before turning one towards Nolan for him to see.
"Here's his picture." His boss added, Nolan glancing at the paper. Nolan had gotten curious now, hearing Yael's name.
"This sunday, i see." Nolan muttered, before his Boss replied.
"Avoid witnesses. Take them down if you're seen, you hear?" His boss remarked, staring into Nolans eyes. Nolan nodded, acknowledging the details and threats of the mission. Out of nowhere, his phone played the notification sound. A text from someone...
"Just a second. Sorry, boss." He said, his boss nodding in return. He took out his phone, glancing at the notification.
"Who is it?" His boss questioned. Nolan's eye slightly widened, snapping out from his phone.
"Just someone i met." Nolan replied, looking up at his boss as he tucked his phone back into his pocket.
"Is that so? That's out of character, you know." His boss joked, smiling. Nolan rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. They approached me." He responded, keeping a neutral expression on his face.
His boss chuckled, "I see, then. Anyways, don't forget the mission. The concert starts at 9 PM, so be there an hour earlier and execute the plan you make yourself. Do you need someone to come with you?"
Nolan thought to himself for a bit before replying, "No. I think it's alright. I don't think it's too overwhelming, eliminating one guy. Thank you, though." His boss nodded, dismissing their meeting. Nolan made his way out of the corporate building and back to his home, his mind swirling with thoughts of a plan. He soon got home, shutting the door behind him as he sat at his desk, thinking of a plan. A plan... He could lure the guy to the back of the building. But how? He's only a stranger to the guy. If this guy likes Yael, then perhaps something related to him... A VIP seat? Free ticket? No no no, he probably has all of these already... He needed something big, something that is not achievable easily by any civilian. Oh, he knows. He nodded to himself after having figured out a plan.
Days quickly passed by, and it was sunday yet again. Nolan walked to the concert building, making sure to be there at 8 PM. He stood near the entrance, and spotted the guy. There was a small line, people that wanted a VIP seat coming in early. As soon as he spotted the guy, he got in line behind him.
"I heard there's a secret back door, do you know of it?" He whispered to the guy. The guy turned back, his eyebrows slightly raised.
"Is that so? No, I don't know." He responded, now having his interest piqued.
Nolan huffed, putting up an act as he continued to speak, "I know the way, but I'm scared to go there. I can't defend myself, and I'm afraid i might get caught."
The guy smirked confidently, mumbling to Nolan, "I know how to fight. You could lead us there, and I'll fend off any uninvited guests." Nolan nodded, gesturing for the guy to follow him as he stepped out of the line, getting out of view of the guards and hopping over a fence, the guy right behind him. He walked, seeing a backdoor. He had no idea there'd actually be a backdoor, but to his luck, there was one. He walked to it, gesturing to the guy. The backdoor was locked of course, but the guy stepped close, examining the lock.
"I could open this. Give me a bit, just observe for any intruders." The guy spoke, kneeling down as he attempted to lock pick the door. And so there it was, the golden opportunity... That is, if Nolan hadn't panicked. Nolan's gaze shot everywhere, his hands slightly trembling as he extended his hand to touch the guys shoulder. He just needed to make the slightest bit of physical contact to take him down. Anything. But before his hand reached the guy, he opened the door. Nolans eyes widened in shock. No no no, he couldn't fail. *He couldn't fail.*
The guy exclaimed, "There we go!" as he opened the door. Only to find Yael standing there.
"Oh?" Yael muttered, a smug smile on his face. He closed his eyes, and the guy, seeming unconscious of his actions, stood up still and walked towards Nolan, standing still right before him as he looked down. Nolans eyes widened, his gaze shooting from Yael to the guy. He quickly placed his hand on the guys shoulder, snapping his neck in half, and as soon as he did, Yaels eye shot open.
"One uninvited guest, but the other can be my guest alright." Yael joked, his smug smile never faltering.
"How- How did you know we were here?" Nolan asked, looking at Yael.
Yael responded right after, "Lockpicking makes quite the loud noise. Especially if it leads straight into the backstage, where i usually am before a concert." Nolan nodded understandingly, sighing.
"Sorry for the trouble-"
"No need. Come in." Nolan was cut off by Yael. Despite killing a guy before him, he was inviting him in. He quickly hid away the corpse, texting his boss about it to send some guys to hide the corpse, stepping inside the back stage through the back door. "You know, i was quite bummed when you said you couldn't come. It's nice to have a pleasant surprise." Yael giggled, walking to his room.
"Yes. A pleasant surprise indeed." Nolan admitted.
