Chapter Four

—— beach hut ——

Emeline

"I'm not making the situation with Harriet a big deal because I don't think it needs to be. Her insecurities are her own and that's not something I can prevent or help her with." She raised her hands in surrender. "Every connection is fair game on the first day and I was just getting to know Ciaran like I was everybody else."

A comfortable silence had encompassed the beanbag area as mimii and Emeline sat next to each other with Mimii's legs draped over the blonde's lap. Ronnie and Ciaran sat in thought just inches away from them.

"Does anyone want to see me do a handstand?"

Ciaran looked at Emmie with a confused frown.

"A handstand..?"

Emmie rolled her eyes and sighed in exasperation. Mimii and Ronnie sat watching the two as they tried to stifle their laughter.

"Yes!"

The Welsh man sat in bewilderment. He knew what a handstand was but it had nothing to do with the conversation they were having previously which caught him off guard.

"Go on then." Ronnie clapped and looked over at Mimii for support, the aforementioned clapped in unison with Ronnie and wore a smile.

Mimii gently pushed the other girl's legs from her lap and urged her to get up and show off the handstand that Emmie was unusually proud of.

"Be prepared to be wowed!" The blonde exclaimed and walked a few feet away from the bean bags before running towards the group with determination.

As her hands met the floor, Emmie's legs lifted up from the ground — she was in a handstand for less than a couple of seconds before collapsing on the floor.

Mimii, Ciaran and Ronnie sat in silence and watched the blonde get up from the floor before dusting her hands off and throwing them up into the air with a smile and a pose. It was at that moment, that the three islanders burst into uncontrollable laughter along with munveer and Ayo who were watching along from the daybeds in amusement.

"What?" The blonde looked around in confusion.

Mimii

"Do you know how hard it was for me to hold that laughter in whilst she was wobbling all over the place so proudly?!" Mimii exclaimed as she sat in the beach hut, still laughing sporadically at the randomness of Emeline.

t was now only Ciaran and Emeline sitting on the beanbags; Ayo had called Mimii for a chat and Ronnie had gone off to talk to some of the girls.

"So what was that all about earlier?" Ciaran asked out of the blue. The pair had been in the middle of a conversation about the best places to visit in Wales when he just stopped engaging and almost zoned out before blurting out the very words that Emeline was dreading.

If there was one thing to know about Emeline; it was that she hates conflict. Everything about it, being in the centre of something that she had virtually no control over was starting to make the girl anxious.
