The Way the AVK Crumbles....

Going back to Auradon Prep was overwhelming to say the least.

Questions followed me everywhere I went, and people bugged me at all times. Chatting went silent whenever I entered a room. You would think this had never happened before, but no. Us Auradon kids were very nosy and smelt all up into each other's business.

Rumors were already spreading around about why I was gone. A vacation to the beach. The plague, the flu, special treatment.

Common cold.

None of them got close to the real reason except for the people who knew my true heritage. Even if I preferred it that way, it was still a bit embarrassing when I had to say I had a stomach bug. FG tried her best to ease me back into schoolwork, since I had missed a lot of it. My chemistry teacher laid it on me thickly, so I spent most of my free time in my dorm doing homework.

Somehow, I managed to catch up within a couple of days. Come Wednesday, I was free to do what I wanted. So I decided to hang out with the VKs.

Evie immediately started to measure me for a dress for Ben's coronation. All I asked for was for tips on what fabric to use, since I'd already designed the dress a month prior in my sketchbook. But she took the wheel firmly stating she thought it was best if she did it.

I didn't complain because as I've said before, I have little to no experience actually bringing my designs to life. I loved Evie's enthusiasm, so I let her model me for her own dress. We were basically the same size and build, so it was easier for her than measuring herself.

Mal was different from when we first met.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, because it definitely wasn't. She seemed to be less rude and blunt. I could tell she even put more effort into her clothing. I don't know her that well, but I was starting to think it had something to do with Ben. He has that effect on others.

Jay. That's a whole other story. Let's just say he's more of a team player. Also, apparently Carlos got over his fear of dogs. His new best friend is Dude the campus mutt. I missed way too much.

Sunday. Parents day. Oh how I loved this day. The awkward lies of kids to their parents to not embarrass themselves. Girls making funny faces at me for not having a dad. Best tension filled day ever.

Before all the festivities started, Ben had come up to me to ask me a favor.

"Rae, do you want to help with the welcome song?"

Politely declining with a cringe, I walked back over to my mother. One minute later it all started. Ugh, I really want to get this over with. There are way too many prissy pink princesses in this joint.

"Ma Cherie Mademoiselle,

It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure

That we welcome you tonight.

And now, we invite you to relax,

Let us pull up a chair

As the dining room proudly presents -

Your dinner!" Ben sang with a bright smile, bowing a bit as welcome.

Such a charmer.

♫ Be... our... guest! ♫

♫ Be our guest! ♫

♫ Put our service to the test ♫

♫ Tie your napkin 'round your neck, Cherie ♫

♫ And we'll provide the rest ♫

Please provide me with earplugs. Sorry Ben.

♫ Soup du jour ♫
