Before Lily had a second to recall what exactly she had said back at the creek with Tom, Brian had swiftly connected his phone to a nearby speaker and began to play audio footage of their conversation.

Lily was stunned to hear Tom's voice, Tom's words, now projected for the entire party to hear.

"Lily.. I have something to confess. I don't think I can fake this anymore. I just can't."

Conveniently, the recording had ended there, leaving everyone in the room completely stunned. Lily felt hot tears forming in her eyes, as her breathing became manual and labored.

To make matters worse, as she lifted her head, the first thing Lily was met with was Emma's smug gaze, with such a wide grin on her face Lily was sure it would leave permanent lines around her mouth. Emma stood there, her arms crossed and her chin high, knowing she had silently just won the ongoing battle between the two, and she didn't even have to do anything.

Lily had took care of it for her.

Lily opened her mouth to protest, but Tom beat her to it. "This is not true, Brian," he stated firmly, his voice cutting through the tension in the room. "Lily and I... we're together."

Brianna's eyes widened in confusion, her gaze darting between Tom and Lily. "Wait, so are you guys a couple or not?"

Lily nodded slowly, her throat tight with emotion. "Yes," she confirmed quietly, her voice barely audible above the murmurs of disbelief.

Brian scoffed, clearly enjoying the attention. "Come on, Tom. You don't have to play along with her little fantasy."

Tom's jaw clenched, his patience wearing thin. "This isn't a fantasy, Brian," he retorted, his tone sharp. "Lily and I care about each other. That's real."

Lily looked at Tom gratefully, appreciative of the fact that he stood up for her.

"Yes, I will admit, we were pretending at first. Lily was my best friend, and I would do absolutely anything for her, including pretending to be her boyfriend so she wouldn't be made to feel like shit by all of you people."

He looked around the room, suddenly making everyone look down in shame.

"Ever since I met Lily, she's been this constant presence in my life," Tom began softly, his voice carrying a mixture of longing and resolve. "At first, I didn't understand it. I thought she was just another friend, someone I enjoyed spending time with. But then, as time went on, I realized it was more than that."

He paused, his gaze drifting to Lily entirely, as if searching for the right words amidst her beautiful green eyes.

"She's become my confidante, my partner in crime, the person who knows me better than anyone else," Tom continued, his voice growing stronger with each confession. "And through it all, I've been falling for her. Falling deeper than I ever thought possible."

A faint smile played on his lips, tinged with a hint of uncertainty and hope.

"I've been scared, too," Tom admitted quietly, now talking directly to Lily. "Scared of losing our friendship if I admitted how much I care about you. Scared of what it would mean for us if things didn't work out."

He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the vulnerability of his next words.

"But sitting here now, in front of a room of judgmental people and only you on my mind, I can't deny it any longer," Tom confessed earnestly. "Lily, I love you. I love you with a depth and intensity that scares me sometimes, but also fills me with a sense of purpose and clarity I've never felt before."

He closed his eyes briefly, allowing the weight of his confession to settle over him. When he opened them again, he felt a sense of peace wash over him, knowing that he had finally found the courage to speak his truth.

"I don't know what the future holds for us," Tom continued, his voice steady with conviction. "But I do know that I want to be with you, Lily. Whatever comes next, I want to face it together, hand in hand."

Tom stood there, his heart open and vulnerable. "And I'll say it over and over again to whoever cares to hear, so they know how authentic and strong my love forsl you is."

The room fell into a tense silence as everyone processed Tom's words. Brianna exchanged a meaningful glance with Max, who nodded in silent understanding. Max stepped forward, his expression thoughtful as he studied Tom and Lily with newfound insight.

"I believe them," Max spoke up finally, his voice carrying across the room. "There's something between Tom and Lily. I can see it."

Tom felt a rush of gratitude toward Max for his support. Lily turned to Tom, finding strength in the warmth of his gaze as he stood beside her, unwavering.

Slowly, the atmosphere in the room shifted from skepticism to acceptance. Their friends began to nod in understanding, murmuring words of encouragement and offering tentative smiles of approval.

As the conversation moved on from them, the music resumed, and people went on with their nights, Tom and Lily quickly slipped out and onto the balcony.

The stars were shining even brighter now, and the view from the balcony offered them a perfect view of the creek they were together at a few moments before.

Lily had been listening to Tom's heartfelt confession over and over in her head, her heart racing with a whirlwind of emotions. As they stood out on the balcony, the weight of his words hung in the air between them, mingling with the soft rustle of the evening breeze.

"Tom..." Lily began, her voice barely above a whisper as she searched for the right words to match the depth of his feelings. She stepped closer to him, their hands finding each other naturally, fingers intertwining in a silent affirmation of their connection.

"I've been afraid too," Lily admitted softly, her gaze meeting his with unwavering honesty. "Afraid of what it would mean to admit how much you mean to me. Afraid of letting myself believe that this could be real."

Tom squeezed her hand gently, his eyes reflecting a mixture of hope and apprehension.

"But," Lily continued, a small smile playing on her lips through the shimmer of tears in her eyes, "I've felt it too, Tom. More than I ever thought possible."

Tom's breath caught in his throat, a surge of relief and joy flooding through him at Lily's words.

"I love you," Lily confessed earnestly, her voice ringing clear in the quiet of the night. "I love you with all my heart."

Tom pulled her into his arms, holding her close as he pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. "Lily," he murmured against her hair, his voice thick with emotion, "you've made me the happiest person in the world."

And finally, without any more disruptions, Tom had bent down and placed a gentle, yet passionate kiss against Lily's lips, allowing the two to melt into each other.

They stood together, wrapped in each other's embrace, the city lights twinkling below them as they savored the sweetness of this moment. The doubts and fears that had once clouded their hearts seemed to melt away, leaving only the warmth of their love and the promise of a future filled with endless possibilities.

"I don't want to lose you," Lily whispered, her forehead resting against his as she spoke. "Not now, not ever."

Tom leaned into her, his arms tightening around her waist as he whispered back, "You won't. I'm here, Lily. I'm not going anywhere."

In that quiet, sacred moment on the balcony, amidst whispered confessions and the gentle rhythm of their hearts beating as one, Tom and Lily knew that they had found in each other a love that was as deep as it was true, a love that would weather any storm and light up their lives with its enduring warmth.

And as they stood together under the starlit sky, their hearts entwined in an unbreakable bond, they felt the universe whisper its approval, weaving their love story into the fabric of eternity.
