"So, who was that boy?" Peter asked as we walked back to my house. I stopped at the question and mumbled quietly, "just an old friend." I knew he heard me, and the memories of Vio raced through my head. We continued the walk home in silence. He entered with me and looked at me with concern. "D-did he hurt you, darling?" he asked, his voice cracked as he spoke. He looked me in the eyes as he awaited my response. "Yes and no", I answered.
He looked down at me with concern saying "tell me please darling, I want to know?" I sighed, looked up at him, and sat next to him on the couch. "Vio and Lucy were my best friends until the day one of my plans to get them together worked, but he changed. He became aggressive to me and forced Lucy to do the same, but anytime he wasn't around, she would apologize or be nice. Vio was rich, and we were all scared of him. Well, everyone but Lucy" I explained as I laid my head on his lap and he rubbed my head comforting me.
"So yes, he did hurt me, but they were only words I guess. Now, it's mainly the way he teased me or the way he says he still loves Lucy, but he was always out sleeping around that gets on my nerves. But then again, she may have done the same thing sometimes. I don't know." I continued as I turned over to look up at him. "It's funny" I said, and he smirked looking down at me, "what?" he asked. "The way I felt when you were around. When you and him were glaring at each other, like you were both fighting for something or should I say someone." I replied.
He chuckled and asked, "was it that obvious?" I nodded and someone knocked at the door. I looked at Peter, and he looked at me and we both said "did you invite anyone?" We both shook our heads' no. So, I went to answer the door, Peter behind me as I opened the door. I saw a man with gray skin, dark brown, partially graying hair, thick eyebrows, some facial hair, and intimidating muscular features. I knew him all too well and instantly slammed the door shut.
Angrily, I stomped upstairs and face planted into my bed. Peter followed behind me and asked, "who was it and why are you so mad, darling?" I groaned, sitting up and rolling over to face him. "It's my dad." I grunted out in anger. He looked at me like a curious cat and said, "Hm?" I groaned, "my dad is not nice to anyone. Plus, my mom doesn't like him around, and neither do I nor TK."
My phone rang, and I answered it instinctively, "hm?" Realized it was Vio and asked "Vio what do you need?" I heard him sigh before he said, "Y/N hey, I'm sorry I've been a jerk to you for the past few years, but can we go back to being friends again? If you wanna." His voice cracking in between words. I could hear him crying too. "Vio? I would like that, but I'd need time to think about it" I said softly into the phone as Peter held me in his lap hearing every word. "Oh o-ok, I understand," Vio says before hanging up.
I sighed, but when Peter nuzzled into my neck, it made me chuckle. "So, what are you going to do about your dad?" he asked. "I'll call mom, but you should leave. I don't want us to get caught by her." He nodded as he left from the back.
After he was gone, I called my mom. It seemed like an eternity before she answered. "Hey mom?" I asked, my voice cracking in between the words. "Yes dear, what's wrong?", she replied. I was quiet for a moment. "Don's here" I said. "I'm on my way" she said with anger in her voice.
I hung up and left the room. Don continued knocking on the door until my mom got home. She opened the door, scaring me. "EEK!" I shrieked. Mom came next to me and asked, "What's wrong, are you ok?" I nodded, "I'm fine, you just startled me." she sighed in relief. "Don's going to stay for two days, ok? So you and TK need to behave. Tell TK when he comes back from school." mom said, whispering the last part into my ear, and I nodded.
I was seriously dreading this weekend. I went to my room and locked the door as Don walked in. My mom returned to work, so I stayed in my room on the phone with Peter until TK knocked on my door and asked "Y/N why's dad here?" I pulled him into my room and re-locked the door behind him. "He's staying this weekend. So mom says be good." I informed him. He nodded, but I could see he was mad as his eyes twitched.
He left my room fuming, and I made sure my door was locked behind him. I went back to talking with Peter on the phone. "Maybe I could come over for a sleepover?" I suggested, and he began clapping with excitement. I chuckled. "I'll have to talk to my mom and see if it's ok, Mr. Kingsley~." I told him as I hung up.
I went downstairs, "yo mom, may I have a sleepover at Peter's house?" I asked as I walked to her, giving her a hug from behind. She looks up, "um ok sure, just make sure it's ok with his mom or dad." I nodded and returned to my room. Locking the door behind me. I informed Peter of my mom's decision, and a short time later he let me know his mom gave her approval.
Wasting no time, I got up early the next morning and packed a bag for the sleepover at Peter's. I left my house as fast as I could to get to Peter's house to avoid Don and his yelling and screaming. His yelling and abusive behavior is something I will never get used to. I hate it.
