I couldn't convince Luke to get his ass out of bed.
I tried to get it through his skull how important going to these next few classes were, but he was not having it. It might have helped if I toned down the volume, but really, it was too frustrating, so dammit, I've taken matters into my own hands.
There's just no way that I'm going to let him fail this damn class, I don't even know if he's ever actually been.
Pulling up, there are less cars than I'd expected. Although, it makes sense since the majority of the classes are finished for most people. I meander my way through the campus, trying to find Luke's class.
I hate school. Always have.
I would never, ever go voluntarily, ever, and yet here I am. That jackass better appreciate this.
By the time I find the auditorium, I have literal seconds to spare. I just hope that I can sneak in and sit through this long enough to get what Luke needs to pass this damn thing.
Looking up, I'm greeted with the familiar face of the girl with the pink car.
I watch in amusement as confusion flits across her face, so I decide to grab the vacant seat next to her.
"Since when are you in this class?" No hi. No, long time no sees. A valid observation and I'm a stickler for paying attention.
"I'm not."
It's met with another confused look and I watch as her shoulders pull up toward her ears in what looks like discomfort.
"No, no! Shit. No. My idiot brother is in this class and I'm pretty sure he's on the verge of failing, so I wanted to give him a chance by getting him these notes, but even then I'm not sure since I can't make it to tomorrow's class." I'm rambling, I never ramble. Her eyes grow wide the longer this spectacle goes on. I can't stop. Words just keep tumbling out of my mouth.
What the fuck is wrong with me?
"So, your brother is in this class?" She interrupts, obviously doubtful. I get it, but at least she shut me up. Luckily the professor decides to stroll through the door, and she forgets all about me as she flashes him a giant smile. He doesn't acknowledge her, but by the twinge of red on his ears, he sure noticed. She shimmies in her seat, making herself comfortable and flexing her fingers. I can feel the tug of a smirk forming on my face, which is wiped clear once the prof starts speaking.
I learned long ago that I absorb information when I focus all of my attention on the person speaking. I have zero interest in any of the shit coming out of his mouth, but my new little buddy is writing furiously. My ears perk up whenever he mentions the upcoming exam, so I make sure to keep mental notes on it.
The longer this goes on, the sweatier this guy gets. It's making me outrageously anxious on his behalf, which really isn't something that I can say lightly. His glances keep flitting to our direction, and he's tripping up on his words.
I feel another set of eyes on me, as I turn to see Sang damn near glaring at me. Quirking up my eyebrow in question as to why.
"What the fuck are you doing?" she hisses in between taking notes. I don't know what she is expecting me to answer to that, so I stay silent. I'm literally just listening to this guy speak.
"Can you stop staring at him? It's clearly making him uncomfortable." She whispers at my side. I scoff incredulously. Making him uncomfortable? I'm just sitting here! I think my mouth pops open partly to argue but also in total confusion.
"No. Just go. I'll take notes for your brother. Heck, I'll even tutor him, if you leave. Please." There are more eyes on us now, not just from the professor but the rest of the students in attendance. Apparently I'm unintentionally causing quite the scene.
This is unbelievable!
I debate staying because this is fucking ridiculous, but the please she added has me standing up despite my better judgement and storming off out of the auditorium. Was it overkill? Sure. Did it feel good to slam my palms into the swinging doors while staring down a visibly relieved professor, absolutely. I'm still incredibly pissed by this turn of events. I could have slept in longer or done, well, literally anything, instead I walk over to a few chairs just outside the doors, plonking down to wait.
At least I can attend to some business in the meantime. I'm going to have to wait for those notes.
By the time I finish my parts order for a custom car I'm working on, there's a steady flow of students trickling out of the auditorium.
Sang stops in front of me, a smirk firmly placed on her face.
"You terrified him, you know that right?" she slaps me gently with her notebook. I can't help but chortle, which seems to startle her. "I was serious though, if you want I'll happily tutor your brother as best I can so that he passes the exam at least." She starts reviewing the notes she'd just written, a small 'fuck' escaping her lips.
My eyebrow quirks.
"The rest of my notes perished along with my laptop. Shit." She sighs, but shakes her head slightly, "I know it's short notice, but do you know if he would be available later this morning? I have an exam this afternoon, so I'd rather get it out of the way to study a bit." I don't answer, instead I just whip out my phone texting Luke to come pick me up at a coffee shop I noticed up the road. I'm impressed that she doesn't bite my head off for not answering her, clearly understanding what it is I'm doing.
I look down at the thumbs up he responds with.
Idiot.
"He'll be at the coffee shop in the next 30 minutes or so. We could head there. I can take Blossom to the shop while you're tutoring him?" I suggest, I had planned on texting her the address for the shop later on today, funny how the world works.
"Oh, I left her at home. I didn't want to chance of her being stuck here, so I just took the bus." she says, waving me off. I feel my eyebrows shooting up into my hairline.
The bus.
I'm going to have to fix that pink car of hers and pronto. In that same thought, I whip out the ole phone again, scrolling until I find her number and text her the address to my shop.
Her phone makes an obnoxiously loud scream, which makes her jump, then giggle, then she flashes me a smile as she actually reads the text. If texting her an address makes her face light up like that, I can only imagine the smile from fixing her car.
