I debated calling her this morning.
Heck, I debated texting her when I left the club, but she was working and it seemed weird.
Instead, I opted for a face-to-face approach.
That is, until I stepped on campus and saw her studying. It didn't seem fair to have this conversation before the exam. I didn't want to mess with her concentration or anything, despite there being no other thoughts in my head.
I heard the doors opening and was about to walk in when my phone buzzed.
Looking down at the message, Mr. Blackbourne has worked out a schedule for the upcoming week and wants my input. There's a few tweaks that I'll need to make, especially with this latest assignment we're assisting on. The mere thought of it has my mind wandering, yet again, to Sang.
Another notification draws my eyes to the time and I nearly have to run to catch the door from closing.
The professor looks at me, teasingly pointing to his watch. I've cut it close. He'll rib me about it later, I'm sure of it. I don't want to draw further attention to myself, so I walk to the closest seat to sit down.
The exam was pretty simple. It was a good mix of multiple choice and long answers. I'm a big fan of the long answers myself I must say. I hear the ruffling movements, looking up to see Sang walking toward the professor who'd been staring blankly at a wall for the past five minutes. I was just doing my third review, but I guess two will have to do.
I watch as they exchange a few words, she smiles at whatever he says before heading toward the door. I hurriedly pack my things up, to hurry after her. Basically all but tossing the exam packet at the professor, who smirks at me in return.
Definitely going to be getting a ribbing when I see him next.
Opening the doors, I see her walking down the nearly vacant hallway, I mean, it is pretty late after all.
"Sang, wait!" I shout at her back. I watch as she stiffens slightly, then she stares up at the ceiling before turning toward me.
I'm not too happy with the fact that I'm the one who put that look of trepidation on her face. She's usually got a wide smile plastered there instead, but now she stands stark still.
One, two, three...
"Hi." I say, stupidly. But she's staring at me with here huge eyes and I can't exactly think straight when I'm near her on a good day.
"Hey." she replies, staying where she is. There's an uncomfortable silence that drags on as we're left standing here staring at one another.
Oh man.
I'm just about to say something, anything really to fill the silence, when a few others come out from finishing the exam with excited whoops, making Sang nearly jump a foot off the ground. Her hand flies to her chest and she giggles. I see that she's about to say something to me then more come out of the auditorium.
This is going nowhere, and fast. One, two, three...
I take the throng of people leaving the room as a sign that we can't have this conversation here. So I take her by the hand, pulling gently in the hopes that she'll want to follow. The corner of her lips tug upward, and I take that as a sign that she's willing to follow along... for now anyway.
A few twists and turns and we stop in front of a locked door. I knew becoming a TA would come in handy, as I open the door with a flourish. Her head peeps into the room behind the door and she smirks as she walks in. The walls are sparse, with a calendar and the syllabus, nothing to reveal the personality. I didn't think it was necessary, that is until I saw a few of the other TA's offices. They had posters splattered on the wall, giving it a more homey feel. Whatever. She hones into the one personal effect that I brought in, a book I'd been re-reading for the 10th time, office hours are long.
