Bourgeoisieses by Conan Gray is so Felix coded

Felix stared at his reflection in the incoming Facetime call. He didn't know why Cindy was so insistent that he joined her friend group. They weren't dating and the boys didn't seem to be too interested in hanging out without Cindy being there.

The upbeat sound coming from his phone caused Felix to peak up from his coffee mug and back to his screen.

Jerome had joined the call and the others soon followed.

"Hey Fe!" Cindy called out, waving to the camera. It was only around 7:20 am, and despite it being the last day of school, it was still a school morning. The teens were in the process of getting ready for school. Cindy was in the bathroom, still in her pink robe putting on her makeup, Buggs' phone was on the ground next to his workout bench facing towards himself, Monty was in his kitchen making coffee, his phone propped up against his microwave facing him. And Jerome? Jerome was in bed, holding his phone in the air like he had just woken up.

"Why are you calling so early in the morning?" Jerome's voice was thick with sleep, rubbing the crust out of his eyes.

"Jay, it's 7:30." Monty commented, grabbing a bottle of Adderall from out of view and grinding it into a small marble bowl.

"Your point being?"

"Felix, why'd you call us?" Buggs, seemingly sensing a useless argument on the horizon, quickly changed the subject.

"I wanted your guys advice, I'm thinking of asking someone out." Felix was uncharacteristically shy when talking. Cindy snapped her head down to her screen, her hands suspended in place still holding the concealer wand close to her face. She spoke up and asked "Who?" but Monty cut her off with a loud pained groan.

"Ugh!" Why does every conversation we have now have to be about romance?" He pouted, dropping his forehead onto the granite countertop.

"You didn't seem to have a problem with it when we were trying to help you and Carla." Jerome reputed, standing now, rummaging through his drawers for a shirt.

"Do not speak that witch's name in front of him, not while he's heartbroken!" Buggs argued before Monty could break down once again.

"Who are you asking out, Felix?" Cindy asked once again, more demanding this time.

Felix recognized this tone and chose to tread lightly. "Um, nothing serious! Just... Lily." He tried to laugh it off as a joke but the four squares on his screen just stared at their screen, jaws dropped.

Monty was the first to break the silence, huffing through his nose trying to stifle his laughter as he poured the crushed Adderall into his thermos. Buggs was mid-sip on his water bottle when he dramatically spit his water out and onto the concrete floor of the basement/gym.

The spit-take, along with the absurdness of Felix's statement finally broke Monty who erupted in loud giggles into his forearm. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he muttered, still laughing to himself.

"Monty, leave the call."

He gasped, catching his breath before reaching for his phone and pausing the Facetime.

"Um, Fe? Do you think that's a good idea?" Cindy fidgeted with her makeup brushes.

"Yeah, Nugget's like a guard dog when it comes to her." Buggs grabbed his towel and phone to make his way back up to his apartment.

"I mean, she hasn't entertained him thus far, so I'm sure he'll get over it." the group looked warry and would surely be sharing a look if they were in person.

"That man is half fucking gorilla, Felix, if he tries to fights you we're not jumping in." Monty jumped back into the call after he composed himself.

"Cin, are you ok?" Jerome asked, sensing the discomfort on his friend's expression and body. She didn't respond.

"Cindy," Felix tried now. "Would you be ok... with this?"

That seemed to snap her out of her trance. "Yeah! Yeah, I'll be fine. I say go for it!" her voice was strained but if Felix noticed it he didn't let that be known.

"Really? Alright, thanks!"

"Do we really need to do this? I feel like this is more effort than it's worth." Ted sighed as he maneuvered through the jewelry shop's isles.

The store, though small, was filled to the brim with expensive jewelry. Earrings on one wall and bracelets and necklaces on another. All the accessories gleamed in the light as they were made with either gold or silver. Felix didn't know which of the materials she preferred and it was safe to say he was kinda freaking out about it.

"I have to get her a present for her birthday anyway, I might as well shell out." Felix argued, taking a peek at the silver rings.

"Are you gonna get Billy something, it's his birthday too-"

"Ooh, I like this." the older twin beckoned his brother towards him. The bracelet was small but the cut of it caught his eye. The chain was nothing dramatic but it was the charms that were truly something to behold. The charms were maybe a centimeter in length. There were four of them already on the gold, one was a Saturn pendant with a 3d ring around it with small diamonds on the ring, the other two were a standard gold cross and heart, it was the forth charm that gained his attention.

It was a small blue flower, bigger than the rest but could not be bigger than an inch. It was a simple flower but it just screamed 'Lily' to him. It reminds him of the staple flower she wore in her hair.

"This is the one." he said with certainty in his eyes.

"Really? It seems kinds basic-"

"Excuse me!" Felix got the attention of the attendant. "How much is this?" he pointed childishly to the bracelet in the glass case.

"Just the chain? $200. But with the charms it'll be closer to $300." the woman behind the counter smiled in a way that seemed condescending.

Felix gave her an equally condescending smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "I'll take it."

The woman started preparing the bag for the gold bracelet and took it out so the teenagers could get a better look. The shimmer reflected off of the charms and beamed them in the face. Felix looked at it with pride and excitement while Ted looked on in fear for his brother.

"Felix?" The brothers turned to look at each other. "Are you sure you want to go through with this?"

"Of course! Why wouldn't I be?"

"I just don't wanna see you get hurt if you aren't sure about this. I mean you guys just started texting last week?"

"Teddy, I'll be fine." Felix scoffed. But in reality he was sweating profusely, his thoughts swirling with intrusive and hurtful thoughts about his date later that week.

"Lets just hope Nugget doesn't find out about this." They were both thinking it but Ted was the first to say it out loud.
