Fun fact: I wrote this while listening to the Wisdom Saga from Epic the musical!

(Luke Holt can have my children)

"No."

"Oh come on, T!"

"I'm not going, and if you ask me again I'll hang up."

Three of the four on the joint Facetime call groaned loudly at the childish stand Monty was taking on this.

"But why not?" Cindy pouted, craning her head from her closet to her phone to glare at the stubborn ginger. "I'm going even though I know Felix will be there."

"Yeah 'cause you're trying to show off for him." Jerome interjected. His phone was propped up on the couch cushion next to him while he played his game.

"That's besides the point!" she poked her head in frame to glare at the teen.

Monty rolled his eyes, causing this attention to falter from the circuit board he was tinkering with. A small spark traveled from the tip of his finger to the joints in his shoulder. "Shit!" he exclaimed, quickly drawing his hand back and placing the finger between his teeth to soothe the shock.

"You know, I don't even wanna go." Jerome paused his game and sighed. He leaned back on the couch and grabbed his phone closer to him. "I haven't spoken to Diana since..." he trailed off with a solemn look in his eyes.

Cindy audibly gasped.

She couldn't fathom what she was hearing. If neither Monty nor Jerome didn't go to the party, then there's a good chance Buggs won't want to attend either. And that wasn't fair to twins, Cindy and Lily might not be on the best of terms right now (not that Lily's aware of the beef) but Billy deserves to have all of his childhood friends in attendance at his birthday party because of some drama.

And Cindy didn't want to confront Felix alone, but they didn't need to know that.

"No! No no no." she stomped towards her phone, stepping on piles of clothes all in different shades of pink. Grabbing the bedazzled phone case from its stand and glaring at her friends on her phone case. "What is the matter with you two?!" she yelled. Her mother downstairs will definitely have a word with her over dinner about her volume but the blonde couldn't care less right now.

"You two cannot be serious right now, you won't go to our close friend's birthday party because of some girls?" Cindy exclaimed. Monty and Jerome casted their eyes away from the phone and down towards the flood beneath him.

"Come on, give 'em a break Cindy." Buggs interjected. "They have reason to skip this one. Jerome hugely fucked up in front of Diana,"

Ok, I wouldn't go that far-"

"Like he fucked up!" Buggs giggled at the awful memory and Jerome's reaction. "And Monty just found out the girl he's been in love with since elementary school-"

"Yeah, I'm not even gonna try and deny it anymore." Monty, defeated, dropped his head on the table, imprinting the wires on the skin of his forehead.

"-is dating someone else. They can miss this one." he tried to reason with her but the intensity in her eyes only got stronger.

"They can't run from this forever! They're gonna have to see Carla and Diana again at some point." Buggs rolled his eyes.

"I don't know, maybe she's right." Jerome conceded with a sigh.

"Wooow folded that quick." the ginger rolled his eyes with his cheek perched against his fist.

"Maybe, if I stay sober tonight, I can find her and apologize!" his eyes lit up at the idea. He hoped their friendship could be restored.
