It was the middle of the night and Aurora was up. Philip promised her he would visit her today and yet the day was officially over and still no sign of him. Aurora yawned trying to stay up at the possibility he would show. Her mind was racing. She wasn't even able to concentrate when reading—something she was able to do very often. Her leg bounced as she quickly sat up on the side of her bed. She was home alone, left with silence and her thoughts.

She couldn't help but worry for Philip. She thought she knew him well enough at this point to believe him when he said he would come. But then again they were just new acquaintances.

But we weren't. We are more than that... at least I thought we were. Aurora thought as she bit her nails.

The next morning Aurora was still caught in shambles about Philip. She needed to take her mind off things and thats exactly what she planned on doing. She decided she was going to go into the forest to collect berries to make berry muffins. She couldn't concentrate on reading so she hoped baking would cheer her up.

She hummed through the forest swinging her basket half full of berries. She was enjoying herself and was dreading going home to an empty silent house. It had never bothered her before for she was always able to distract herself with a good book, but now was different.

Aurora loved how beautiful the wood looked in the summertime. The trees were full, the flowers were colorful and in full bloom, and the sun was shining brightly through the cracks of the leaves. It was beautiful. However today was different. When Aurora reached a bush of blueberries she was also met with the sight of blood. A long string of blood followed out of the bush. Curiosity got the better of her as she followed the crimson path down to a tree. Slowly she rested her arms against it and peaked her head onto the other side.

On the other side of the tree lay a man covered in blood. Aurora gasped pushing herself off the tree and ran to the other side.

"Oh my goodness sir! Are you alright?" She gasped. The man moaned in response. She quickly looked down at where the blood was sprouting from— his left side. He sat there clutching it.

"Aurora, baby- Argh." He moaned clutching his side again in pain. Auroras head snapped quickly to his face. She knew that voice.

She didn't take a good look before but now as she stared at the bloody and dirt ridden face that was starring back at her. "Philip?"

He groaned again in response.

"Oh my gosh, Philip! How did this happen to you? Are you okay? What happened?" Aurora gasped. Her hands automatically shot to his face cupping it gently. He looked as if he was in so much pain and it hurt her.

"I'm all good, sweetheart. Just help me on my feet will you?"

"Of course." Immediately she took his arm and slung it around her shoulder. She counted down and gently lifted him up. It wasn't an easy task. He easily was twice her height and twice her weight too. It wasn't like she was much help but Philip was just grateful she was there for he couldn't move much on his own. Knowing she was there if anything went wrong was comforting but also unsettling. He didn't want to worry her or put her in danger.
