ABI'S POV
It's times like this it sucks that the only real friend I have is my cousin. My male cousin, who I don't feel comfortable with sharing my account of mind-blowing sex with the guy he warned me about.
But, boy, was it incredible.
I showered the lingering sex smell from my skin with the burning water that made me nearly as hot as Dugray's touch. The knee-trembling moans that escaped him into my ears played like a sweet symphony.
He was bad news, Abi. But I couldn't help wanting him to prove the rumours wrong.
The front door opening startled me. I rushed to finish the longest shower I had taken and prepare for whoever was in my house. I did not want to be the plot of a horror movie being murdered in the shower.
To my relief, it was Grandma who had returned. I let a heavy breath go as I crept down the staircase. I wasn't sure what my plan was if it was an intruder, but luckily, I didn't need one.
"Grandma, what are you doing back?" I asked as I twisted my wet hair into my claw clip.
She looked up at me as she took her countless layers off. "The slopes got the best of me this afternoon. I thought I'd come and fix dinner."
That's my cue as a sous chef. Cooking always helped clear my head; considering mine was in the clouds, I could use it—a healthy distraction from the troublesome man who had only left twenty minutes ago.
"So, what's the deal with you and Mason?" Grandma asked as she organised our ingredients.
I nearly choked on my water. When did Grandma become a gossip? "There is no deal."
"Oh honey, I'm old, but I'm not blind. There is something between you two."
I wanted to deny everything, tell her she was crazy and that her romantic heart needed to be controlled, but I could not deny the waves of emotions he caused me.
"He's not the good intentions kind. Which is fine because I'm focused on college; I don't need a stupid boy ruining my future."
She stopped her organisation and looked at me. "Honey, I'm not saying marry the man; I'm saying he seems intriguing. Maybe he is worth some of your time. Books and the kitchen shouldn't consume you entirely."
***
After finishing the chicken pot pie, I gathered my things and left for the mountain café. As I had hoped, Ruby was on the wooden table outside, looking dimly at the mountain. Watching her boyfriend do the same thing repeatedly whilst hungover wasn't the most pleasant day.
"I need to talk to you," I said, grabbing her wrist and pulling her inside. She squealed but complied with my navigation. I pushed us through the ridiculous queue and into the quiet corner.
"I think I fucked up," I confessed.
She narrowed her eyes at me like she had known me forever. "I don't like where this is heading."
"I slept with Dugray." I blurted out. It felt good to say it out loud. Expose my questionable decision and hope for no judgment. Ruby's jaw dropped in shock.
"Girl, you did it." She laughed. "Jordan didn't think you'd go near him, but I so knew there was sexual tension there."
"Well, Jordan will never know. He warned me to stay away. I don't want a lecture on my stupid decision."
"Is it stupid, though?" She queried as she took a seat on the sofa. "You're both into each other, and the sex was good?"
I joined her on the sofa and nodded. "Mind-blowing good. So good it's pissing me off."
