"Eliss?" Camden called out, shoving open the heavy door. "Are you home?" His brother enjoyed sneaking out to find some materials for whatever project he was working on, so he often wasn't home when Camden arrived. Today though, Eliss was home. Camden watched his younger brother stalk out of his bedroom, rubbing his eye.
Setting down the items he got from the market, he said, "I'll take that as a yes." Silently, his brother sat down on the couch, and looked at all the supplies before him.
"Did you get me any parts?" Eliss asked, his voice gravelly.
Shaking his head, Camden responded, "No, but I did pick you up some dried berries." His brother's eyes lit up at hearing that, and he looked at his brother expectantly.
"Well, are you going to give me them?" Eliss's gray eyes bore down on him, the flecks of blue in his eyes a beacon in the dull light.
Grabbing the snack, Camden teased him by saying, "Patience, young grasshopper." His brother did not find that amusing, and slugged him in the shoulder. "Ow!" Camden cried out, dropping the berries to rub his now sore arm.
"Aha!" His brother exclaimed, snatching up the berries and starting to scramble away with them. Before he got far though, his older brother grabbed him by the ankle and dragged him back.
Towering over the younger boy, Camden said, "Give them here. Now." He held out his hand, and his brother reluctantly set them in his hand.
"Jerk." Eliss mumbled as Camden got off of him.
"Excuse me?" Camden whipped his head around and glared at his insolent brother. "Maybe I won't share these with you then."
"Wait, no! I'm sorry. Can I have some of them now?" Camden stared at his brother with a blank face. "Please?" Eliss grumbled begrudgingly.
"There you go, that wasn't so hard was it?" Camden laughed, handing his brother the snack. In response, Eliss snatched them and scurried back over to the couch.
"Hey, since when did you get into drawing?" he asked his older brother, motioning towards the beautiful blue sketchbook.
"What do you- Crap." Camden facepalmed. "I bought it for this one girl. She wanted to buy it, but I guess she had been pickpocketed or whatever. Anyways, the old shopkeeper was giving her crap about it, so I bought it for her."
"Well, that doesn't explain why you still have it then." Camden rolled his eyes at his brother's sarcasm, restraining himself from going over and smacking some sense into him.
"I was getting to that, if you would just listen!" He said, raising his voice. Then realizing that it wasn't a big deal, he said, "Sorry. I'm just...I'm just tired, alright? Where was I?"
"You just bought the book for the girl." Eliss said, his mouth full of food.
"Right, okay. So I bought it for her, and when I went to give it to her, she recognized me, which caught me totally off guard. No one has recognized me before." Camden chuckled.
"What's so funny?"
"Oh nothing. I just remembered how nervous she looked. She kept fidgeting with her hands, and her eyes were darting everywhere." He trailed off, thinking about how pretty her eyes were.
"Uh, Earth to Camden!" Eliss yelled, flailing his arms in the air.
"What? Sorry. Back to the story. She recognized me, she introduced herself, and then we parted ways. I must have forgotten to give it to her." He continued, shaking his head. "I wonder why she didn't ask for it."
"I don't know dude. But you could probably track her down, what did she look like?"
"Well, she had this fiery red hair, and it had these streaks of brown when it hit the light just right." He responded, thinking back on her looks. "With this beautiful olive skin, and these green and brown eyes. Hazelnut, to be accurate. Her eyes were so unique though. They had these almost gold flecks in them, it was super pretty-"
"Ooh, you like her, don't you?" His younger brother teased, making a kissy face.
"Knock it off." Camden turned his back on his brother, and tried to remember her height. "She was about," He motioned with his hands, "Yea high. I think she was two or three inches shorter than me."
"Great, so now you go track her down. Maybe get her number too." Camden's cheeks went hot, and he turned to glare at his brother. In response, Eliss just shrugged, and gave him a cheesy grin.
"I'm going to bed. I'll see you in the morning." He grumbled, waving goodnight.
"Sweet dreams!" Eliss called after him, still munching on the snacks from the market.
