3 years ago.....

My family and I had just moved from our home in May Pen, Clarendon.

Just when we think we neva did ago get a break through, my mom heard about a house for rent in the cool cool hills of Mandeville Manchester. I was born in Mandeville but then we moved to May Pen and then back to Mandeville. Always on the hunt for a better life and up till now life cyah get betta.

Salt is an understatement when it comes to my family and I.

We didn't have much but my mom and my aunt Tanique always made sure we go to school everyday. My mom and aunty Tanique were inseparable which made my cousin Melissa and I even more inseparable.

We grew up together, I can't imagine a day in my life where she's not around she made me feel sane even though she's my biggest competitor. I'm always losing to her.

We moved to a rich community called Ingleside in an apartment complex but rent was too expensive and we could only stay for five months before moving back to May Pen, where I traveled everyday to Manchester High school and Melissa traveled to Belair High.

Aunty Tanique decided that it would be cheaper to move back to Mandeville and send us to school from there. Aunty Tanique and mommy searched all over Mandeville for an affordable house, but of course we nah go get none cause we salt.

Weeks go by and Aunty Tanique came home bearing good news "me get a deal fi a house a Ingleside again fi $35,000 a month, 3 bedrooms , 2 bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen." She expressed.

Bwoy if you did give me a million dollars me probably woulda still happy so.

"Den tan how we ago pay dat deh rent deh? Is a good deal but weh we ago get dem type a money deh??" Mommy asked in a disappointing voice.

"Bwoy Danisha we haffi try innuh. Me ago try pick up some extra hours and you do the same, this a we only chance fi come from this bad place" Aunty Tanique said in an determined voice.

On August 16,2021 we moved back to Ingleside, one of the Richest community in Mandeville. Aunt Tanique and mommy struggled for years to pay the rent and even now the struggle continues.
