09 — money, money, money
seo hyejin elegantly walked at the entrance with her white lace dress which catches the soft lighting of the room
as she entered the venue, her eyes lit up when she spotted hera. she ran over and greeted her with a warm smile. "you're so pretty," she complimented hera.
"you're late," hera commented, glancing at her. "your dress is so pretty."
"it's custom-made by chanel. my mother herself gifted this," hyejin said with a smile.
hera looked around and saw only the seo family's secretary. "your dad?" she asked.
"he's outside, just making a few calls," hyejin answered, her eyes drifting to woojin, who was staring at her softly. she quickly looked away. it had been days since she started ignoring him.
it was for the better, she told thought that the more she continued talking to him, the more she would become a fool for thinking he might like her back.
as ri-an's mom began her speech, chairman seo suddenly entered the room, drawing everyone's attention.
"good evening, chairman seo,"
he smiled awkwardly and respectfully bowed to everyone as he made his way to the front. he gave chairman an — an apologetic smile and gestured for her to continue.
yeji, observing chairman seo's watch, whispered, "hyejin's dad's watch is a graff watch worth over 25 million dollars, and i assume his suit costs around a million dollars."
"they're indeed old money rich. hyejin's dress is custom-made from chanel. i envy her," bada replied in amusement.
meanwhile, an hyewon, ri-an's mom, welcomed chairman seo with a formal smile. "chairman seo, it's nice to see you here."
seo seungtae returned the smile. "it's nice to see you too, chairman an. thank you for hosting such a nice event and for treating the students at jooshin very well. you're doing a great job."
he noticed the tension between chairman an and chairman jung. he wasn't that stupid. he knew both were trying to gain favor with him, seeking a bit more power from syeon group.
"yes. i have nothing but admiration for jooshin's passion for education business," chaiman jung agreed
"our children's future is the country's future. we can't just chase after growth. i believe corporations have a duty to help build a harmonious society," chaiman an confidently said, "i admire you too. there are so many far-fetched rumors surrounding jooshin and jaeyul group but you happily sent miss jae-i our way, for which i'm grateful,"
"and thank you for accepting her with open arms,"
while hyejin on the other side looked away from the talking elders, worried because her father rarely attended events like this, especially without her mother to support him.
