Chapter One 📚

Martyn's PoV:

Great, starting a new school year again.

I stand outside of the high school. The beginning of my second year of high school begins when I walk in.

I take a deep breath and enter. I walk to the cafeteria, where me and my friends agreed to meet.

I look around, my eyes landing on a few older kids. A dog hybrid, cyborg creeper hybrid, an imp hybrid, just a human (like me), an elf with a mask, another kid with a mask and wide eyes, and a kid in a mossy hoodie.

I don't realize I'm staring until the dog hybrid laughs. I shake my head and look around for my friends. I spot Cleo and Scott at a table. I quickly walk over to them, my ears pink from embarrassment.

"Hey Martyn." Scott greets. I still find it hilarious how he's Scottish and his name is Scott.

"Hi." I say back. Cleo sips her orange juice. "We still waiting for Pearl?"

"No, she's in the bathroom." Cleo said, gesturing to Pearl's bag.

"Ohhh, alright. Do you guys have your schedules?" I ask, sitting down and pulling out my schedule.

"Mhm." Scott answers, both him and Cleo pulling out their schedules. I glance at the table across from ours, where those either juniors or seniors sit.

They were all laughing and such. I couldn't draw my eyes away from the dog hybrid. He had brown hair that was in a small ponytail. He had reddish brown eyes with sunglasses on his nose. He wore a red hoodie and jeans, a hole in the back for his tail. He was rather cute- no. What am I saying? I'm straight, goddammit.

"Martyyyynn?" Pearl says. I jump, and turn back to them.

"When did you get here?!" I ask, surprised.

"She's been back for awhile." Cleo snickers.

"Oh. Anyway, let's compare our schedules."

(Timeskip - Martyn shares two classes with Scott, one with Cleo, and none with Pearl. Don't worry, he shares science and art with Ren)

"Okay, we're done." I sigh. "Too bad my first class is science."

"Some juniors are in that class." Pearl says, knowing this since she's a junior.

"Ugh, hope I don't get paired with them." I groan.

"Changing the topic, what was distracting you from noticing Pearl coming back?" Scott asks, leaning closer.

"Er- w-what? Nothing." I stutter, feeling my face go hot.

"You were staring at those juniors and seniors... you like one of them!" Cleo conquers.

"Huh?! No, all but one are boys!" I exclaim.

"So what?" Scott says. "I'm gay, it's fine if you are too. Even if you like that blonde girl, that's fine too." He shrugs.

"Well- I-I'm not!" I say, going redder.

"Is it Etho? Most people like him." Pearl asks.

"Etho?"

"Oh, uh, the white haired elf with a mask." She explains.

"No, no, not him. It's... er... that dog hybrid, whatever his name is." I say, embarrassed.

"Oh! That's Ren. He's kind of popular, but he's gay." She replies. The bell rings. "Well, I'll put in a good word for you."

"Thanks Pearl."
