K N O X

Glancing at my watch I realize I've been awake for over twenty four hours. When Princeton called to tell me about Koa I got onto the next flight out and wasn't able to sleep. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep until I got to the bottom of whatever the hell is going on.

Princeton waves a hot cup of coffee in front of me. "Here. Made just the way you like it."

"Extra sugar?"

He chuckles and takes a seat beside me. "What other way would you have it?"

"Thanks, Prince." I smack my lips like I used to do to get on his nerves.

He elbows me and gives me a stop-it look. "Dude, come on."

I grin and punch his shoulder. "Just checking to see that you're still the same little Princeton I know." Reaching over I ruffle his hair.

"Aye, I'm not so little anymore. I'm as tall as you're six foot two butt." He laughs softly before taking another swig of his coffee.

"Henry isn't-"

He shakes his head and looks me dead in the eyes. "I promise you he's not and never has. I would tell you, really I would. Besides, I think there'd be a few telltale signs."

Downing half my cup I turn to look at Koa. The nurses put his arms in restraints since they don't know how he'll react after his overdose when he comes to. I can't say I blame them, Koa hasn't exactly had a good reputation this last year. Shaking my head I rub my tired eyes and toss my empty cup in a nearby trash bin. Whipping my phone out I dial Eileen, but it goes straight to voicemail. She's probably still at work. I leave a message to let her know what's going on. "Hey, do you know if I brought my laptop in?"

Princeton reaches for his bag and hands me his laptop. "Use mine."

"Thanks. I forgot I have an assignment due tomorrow morning." Logging into my Harvard account I scroll until I reach my latest assignment, a three thousand-word essay on fluid mechanics. Princeton brings his knees into his chest and reads whatever book he's on now. "Prince, if you want to go home you can. You do have school tomorrow."

His hazel eyes wander to me, scanning my face. "I'll leave after Koa wakes up, I'd like to make sure he's okay." Flipping his page he stops reading and stares at me.

"What?"

"You look tired. Did you get any sleep on the plane?"

I shake my head, "Not really."

"Well, how long have you been up?" He inquires, brushing his fingers through his hair.
