WHAT IF

CHAPTER 14

Babe stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze fixed on the familiar scenery of crashing waves and calling seagulls. The rhythmic sounds of the ocean filled his ears, momentarily soothing his thoughts. Just as he turned to peer out the window, a familiar scent enveloped him, and he knew without looking that Charlie was approaching from behind.

Charlie's arms wrapped around him in a comforting embrace. "Did you just wake up?"

"Mm-hmm," Babe murmured softly, still lost in contemplation. He had chosen to take a brief vacation with Charlie at their beach house, hoping the tranquil setting would provide them both with a much-needed break. This trip was about focusing on their relationship, leaving behind the challenges of the past.

Babe had made a conscious decision not to dwell on the hardships they had faced. Instead, he wanted to use this time to reconnect with Charlie and discuss their future together. It was a pivotal moment for them to reevaluate their priorities and reaffirm their commitment to each other.

As Charlie held him close, Babe felt a sense of peace wash over him. "I'm glad we're here," he admitted quietly, leaning back into Charlie's warmth.

Charlie pressed a kiss to Babe's cheek. "Me too. It feels good to get away from everything."

"Yeah," Babe agreed, turning in Charlie's arms to face him. "I think we need to talk, though."Charlie was a little stunned by the seriousness in Babe's tone, but he nodded in agreement. 

"Okay, after breakfast then?"

Babe nodded back, a flicker of determination in his eyes. "Yeah, after breakfast."

They both knew the conversation ahead would be important. As they prepared breakfast together, the atmosphere was calm yet tinged with anticipation. Babe focused on cooking, his movements deliberate and precise, while Charlie set the table, stealing glances at Babe every now and then.

Once breakfast was ready, they sat down at the table overlooking the beach. The morning sunlight cast a warm glow through the windows, adding a sense of serenity to the moment. They ate in comfortable silence, savoring each bite and stealing occasional glances at each other.

After the last of the food was eaten and the dishes were cleared away, Charlie turned to Babe, breaking the silence. "So, what did you want to talk about?"

Babe took a deep breath before speaking "I think we need to talk about me...being an omega now." the word still felt weird in his mouth but he'll have to get used to it. Charlie nodded  giving him his whole attention. That matter has also been in his head but he just waited for the right time to discuss it and that time has come.

They had to face the facts, they wont indulge in themselves like before. Back then babe was an alpha  so they could just go at it without care but now that wont be the case any more, Babe could conceive and that's something they need to be cautious about.

Charlie listened intently, his expression serious yet supportive as Babe continued."I've been reading up on what being an omega entails," Babe said, his voice steady. "It's not just about the heat cycles and suppressants. There's a lot more to it, especially when it comes to our relationship." Charlie nodded, encouraging Babe to elaborate.

"We have to be careful, Charlie," Babe continued, looking into his eyes. "I know we've always been carefree and adventurous, but now we have to consider the consequences. I don't want us to regret anything or face unexpected challenges."

Charlie reached out and gently held Babe's hand. "I understand, Babe," he said softly. "We'll go trough this together, like we always have. "

Babe smiled faintly, relieved to hear Charlie's reassuring words. "I just want us to be on the same page," he said. "To talk about things openly and make decisions together."

Sitting  in silence for a moment, as the weight of their conversation hanging in the air. Babe squeezed Charlie's hand  and spoke again.

"So...from now on you don't have to hold back." Charlie was taken aback by this, he was a little shocked "What...?" he asked just to make sure that he heard what he heard.

"I mean...as long as we use protection we can still be as before." Babe said as if stating the obvious, and besides, he cant remember the last time he was intimate  with Charlie. He misses him and he wants him. Charlie sitting across him could clearly read what's going on in babe's mind. So to give an answer to babe, to show that he understood, he leaned forward and kissed him softly on his lips. The kiss did not last long because the two had plans for the day they can always get back to that later.

After their heartfelt conversation, Babe and Charlie decided to make the most of their time together. They began their day with a leisurely stroll along the beach, the warm sand between their toes and the soothing sound of waves accompanying their steps. They let go of their worries, laughing and playing like carefree children as they ran along the shoreline, chasing each other and enjoying the simple joy of being together.

As the sun climbed higher in the sky, they headed to a seaside restaurant with a breathtaking view of the ocean. They settled at a table overlooking the water, where they indulged in fresh seafood delicacies. The scent of grilled fish and shrimp filled the air, complemented by the tangy aroma of citrus from their drinks.

Babe and Charlie savored each moment, relishing not only the delicious food but also the peace and tranquility of their surroundings. They talked about lighter topics, reminiscing about their favorite memories and making plans for future adventures. 

As they lay in the sand, enjoying the serene moment of watching the sunset, their peace was suddenly broken by the sound of joyful cheering nearby. Curious, Babe and Charlie turned their heads towards the commotion and noticed a small crowd gathered not too far away. Intrigued, they decided to wander over and see what was causing such celebration.

As they approached, they saw a touching scene unfold before them: a man was on one knee, holding out a ring box to another man who stood before him, tears of joy streaming down his face. The surrounding onlookers cheered and encouraged the man to say yes, their excitement palpable in the air. When the words finally came, a ring was slipped onto his finger, sealing the moment with an embrace filled with love and happiness.

Babe and Charlie couldn't help but share in the joyous atmosphere. They clapped along with the crowd, their hearts warmed by witnessing such a heartfelt proposal and the affirmations of love that followed. They exchanged smiles and quiet words of congratulations with the others around them, silently wishing the newly engaged couple a lifetime of happiness together. 

As they walked back hand in hand, the sun had already set so they decided to go back in the house.
