Chapter 3: The Mikaelson Ball.

The Ball is going to start well, I put on my long red dress and my black heels, heels are really not comfortable but hey it's probably a matter of habit.
I curl my hair and put it to the side looking at the makeup palette that Caroline gave me, it's always the best for gifts. I remember when we were ten years old she found an abandoned kitten and decided to give it to me for my birthday. Mom didn't really like it but she finally gave in but unfortunately
Biscotte died a few weeks later of tuberculosis, Caroline was as devastated as me but the less Biscotte was able to have a few weeks of happiness. Regardless, I get up and look in the mirror, smiling at my reflection. I see Mom behind me against the door before I turn towards her.

Fays: I still think it's a bad idea but if you really want to go.

Talia: I have to protect Elena and I was invited and I can't refuse.

Fays: This boy doesn't inspire confidence in me, but if you like him then go for it. And an advisor, remain courteous and don't let your coldness scare their guest.

Talia: Stop everything a little, I'm not so cold as that.

Elena: Maybe, but hanging out with Salvatore's Bad Boy gave you a sarcasm and a black humor that makes more than one person turn pale, so your mother is right.

Fays: Thanks Elena, but oh you look gorgeous.

Elena: Thanks Fays.
Indeed Elena is sublime as always with her magnificent black and gold dress, I take my mother in my arms and go to my car with Elena. I'm not looking forward to knowing what's going to happen but I absolutely want to know what Esther is up to, she hides more than she wants to keep quiet.
Arriving in front of the Mikaelsons' magnificent home, I take a deep breath and push open the reception doors.
In the background I manage to see the Mayor accompanied by Damon who is shooting murderous glances at Kol and Jace, he both turns towards us with his mouth open. Jace is the first to arrive towards us, he grabs my hand and places a kiss on it.

Jace: You look amazing.

Talia: I return the compliment.

Jace: Thanks, I know.

Talia: Do you know the meaning of the word modesty?
Jace: With Kol it's hard to know him.

Kol: Oh Elena Gilbert aren't you? We weren't able to introduce Kol Mikaelson, Talia told me a lot about you.
Jace: Nice to meet you Elena.
Elena: Nice to meet you, sorry I have to leave you, trouble is calling me.
Talia: You know where to find me next..
She nods as she walks towards Damon who waves at me despite his desire to yell at it, and yes you can feel it a thousand miles away. I grab Jace's arm and let myself be guided towards the buffet, I grab a glass of champagne and listen to Finn and Elena's conversation which forces him to come alone. Jace sees me watching them and brings my gaze back to him and nudges my chin.
Jace: I assure you she will be fine, I asked Kol if everything was safe.
Talia: I don't trust their mother.
Jace: But you trust me, right?
Talia: Of course.
Jace: So trust me, Elena will be fine.
Jonathan takes me by the waist and sits next to Elena and her two bodyguards as well as Matt who came anyway..
I let go of their gaze to concentrate on
Elijah ready to give his little speech, Kol smiles at me from afar and leaves to join him.
Elijah: Ladies and gentlemen, if you would like to come closer, welcome and thank you for joining us.
Please note that when our mother decides to bring our family together, it is traditional for us to start the evening with a ball.
Damon: You see what I see.
Talia: How did you miss it...
Elijah: We have opted for a very old waltz this evening so if you want to find a partner the ball will be held in the large living room.
I walk towards Elena but I get stopped by Jace and she by Damon, he grabs her hand and takes her to dance just after giving her a life lesson.
Jace: Are you going to watch Elena all night or will you accept my request to make you dance?
Talia: How could I refuse?
He takes my hand and leads me to dance in a row with the others, his smile is brighter than usual to think he's stuck. I smile at him in turn and follow the dance steps, once the waltz is finished Jace places both hands on my waist, I place a hand on my shoulder and rest my head against his chest.
Jace: Have I ever told you you're beautiful?
Talia: Yes, you already told me.
Jace: If I forgot it's because I haven't told you enough and you are the most beautiful woman of the whole evening.
Talia: Thanks.. You're not bad either.
He pulls away from me and looks back hesitantly, he places a kiss on my forehead to apologize and joins Klaus.
Damon approaches and takes my hand to dance with me, but of course his gaze only rests on Elena.
Damon: You are very beautiful.
Talia: It's compliment night, I say.
Damon: Jace I bet? Pay close attention to him, his friend is kind of crazy, you know.?
Talia: The type of you? Damon I know how to defend myself and he is great with me..
Now I have to leave you, I'm going to join him.
I go up the stairs looking for Jace before seeing Kol chatting with Rebekah, I approach slowly and overhear them discussing Matt.
Kol: You no longer have a rider?
Rebekah: He dances with his ex..
Kol: You've changed Rebekah, settling for a simple waiter isn't your thing..
Rebekah: And you of all these witches? If you hadn't brought Jonathan back to San Francisco he would be on my arm instead of that of this she-wolf.
Kol: Leave Jace and Talia out of this, otherwise the server will end up in a grave and dismembered.
Rebekah: In fact I brought them to kill him, it was Elena's friend who killed him and made her suffer.
But since I've already been fooled by
Elijah, I thought a little help from my dear brother would be appreciated.
Kol: Do you seriously want to disobey mother's orders? I'm leaving.
I step back and stand in front of the curtain before one of them surprises me.
I don't believe it, Rebekah is very damned to him by spanking him the good girl card.. And what's more, Kol who accepts, I'm going to have to watch him now, I have to find him and quickly .
I come out of the curtain and Kol is gone, I walk down the hallway trying to catch every sound before moving towards the balconies and see Kol in literally breaking Matt's hand, I raise my hand and send him flying over the balcony then run towards Matt to pick him up.
Talia: "Asinta mulaf" I reduced the pain but it risks starting you again later, and damn I warned you Matt.
Matt: I'm sorry OK I should have listened to it.
Talia: Yes but you never do it.
Kol jumps to get back on the balcony I ask Matt to leave, he comes closer and extends his hand to me so I slap him.
Talia: You never touch my friends again.
I leave, nervous, leaving him alone on his stupid balcony, I walk towards a small living room where Elena asks me to join. Just outside the door Damon starts throwing a tantrum at Elena and Stefan for wanting to leave her alone with Esther.
I feel like everyone is having a fart cable today and that annoys me even more, I walk towards him and break his neck under the shocked gaze of my two friends who then give me a questioning look.
Talia: No question. Okay, Elena, go ahead, I'll follow you discreetly.
Stefan: She'll probably use magic so we can't hear them.
Talia: I can bypass the spell.
Stefan: Jonathan is looking for you, what am I doing??
Talia: Tell him Kol attacked Matt and I'll take care of it.
Elena: Matt is hurt??
Talia: His wrist is broken but it's okay, let's go.
I leave with Elena in the long corridor which leads to Esther's room, on the way Elijah stops us and tells us about his dear mother. He also asks Elena to tell him everything that Esther will tell him.
Elena continues her way alone while I position myself in the distance, she enters the room and as luck would have it Finn guards the entrance. I quickly glance over to see if he's moving but still nothing until Kol joins me.
Jace: Talia, I'm sorry...
Talia: Sorry? Your so-called best friend tried to kill Matt.
-Jace: I know, he's uncontrollable sometimes but I'll talk to him.
Talia: It's not going to change anything Kol is Kol..
Jace: Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?
Talia: You have nothing to apologize for but I need a favor, distracted Finn.
Jace: And why?
Talia: I need to know what Esther says to Elena.
Jace: Ok I'll try to hold it as long as possible.
He goes towards the Original and tells him I don't know what, he gets into a rage, he goes down the stairs in a fury with Jace.
I walk towards the door and burn some sage while reciting a phrase "Show me what you are hiding, hear the words and let me know".
Elena: Do you want to kill Klaus?
Esther: One thing after another, what I want at the moment is simply a helping hand. I understand that Rebekah told the story of my family and the fact that mother nature hates me for transforming my children.
Elena: To protect them from Werewolves.

Klaus POV:
We celebrate in front of the arranged speech of our dear mother saying she wants a reunited family, I believe it and I hope that mother is true.
I let sweet Caroline join the quarterback injured by Kol, he never misses an opportunity to create problems for us and I'm sure Talia must not be happy.
Besides, I don't even have the chance to dance with him, I walk the corridors and enter my mother's room.
And what a surprise I discovered lying on the bed the little wolf with blood on her mouth, what could mother have done to her? And I bet her little dog Finn is still with her.
I carry her and take her outside looking for
Stefan looks at me but instead my brother's little wizard, Jonathan comes furiously towards me with Elena and his dear Stefan still with his brother..
Jace: What did you do to him Klaus!?
Klaus: But nothing at all figures to you, I found it in mother's room so I concluded that Finn must have taken care of her.
Damon: Let go, I'll take over, your family doesn't take care of her well enough.
Jace: Oh because you think yours does?
Stefan: Let's not start a little war over who takes care of her best... We'll bring her back, that's all.
Damon picks her up, giving Jonathan a fake smile to annoy him, I grab him by the shoulders and bring him back inside the house. Whatever happened, I'm going to find the reason why Talia was attacked.
