//real life//

"Stop thinking," Noa says. She looks at her phone. 3:34am. It was the middle of the night, but she only slept for like 1,5 hours. She couldn't stop thinking about the things that happened since she got here. Or she just couldn't stop thinking about Matt.

It is weird. She convinced herself that she was over him. But all she is thinking of was Matt.

During dinner, Noa could feel Matt's eyes on her. But when she was looking at him, he turned his head. He was laughing at her jokes, but didn't talk to her at all. The only thing he said was 'wow' at one of her stupid jokes. It was more a reaction to everyone, then saying it to her. But it was better than not looking at her at all. Like he did at first.

After 15 minutes Noa decides to go to the kitchen. She just needs to walk and grab some water. She walks downstairs. As quiet as she can she grabs a glass and puts water in it.

She is staring at her phone, until she hears someone. She looks up and sees one of the guys standing there. She can't see who it is, until the guy turns on the light. It is Matt.

Noa doesn't know what to think of it. She is happy that it is finally just them two. But also a little worried. What are they supposed to say? Is he gonna say anything at all? Or just walk away?

"Hey," he whispered. "Hey," she whispered back. "You okay?"

Noa's mind You okay? You okay? He asks how I am doing? So he is gonna say something!

"I'm fine," she answers "What are you doing here?" He asks. "I'm just grabbing what water, I couldn't sleep. You?" "Yeah me too." Well... I didn't want to grab some water, I just couldn't sleep. I heard someone so I went to see who it was." "Oh shit, did I wake you up?" "No no no no," he answers quickly. "I was already awake. Don't worry." "Okay."

After that it is just silent. Not awkward. Just, a peaceful silence. After a little while Matt decides to break the silence. "How have you been lately?" Noa didn't expect that question. How is she supposed to answer that? "I uhm, I've been doing better. Not great, but way better than before." "Okay." Matt says with a smile.

Matt's mind I'm happy she is doing better. She also looks way better. In a healthy way then. When I met her she always seemed a little sad and tired or something.

Matt notices that Noa got quite uncomfortable because of the question. The last thing he wants is making her uncomfortable. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." "Yeah uhm sorry, no one really has asked me that question yet." Noa responds. That surprises Matt. "No one? Loïs, Ian and Alec neither? Also not your step brothers?" "No, none of them." "Oh."

Again there is silence. This time it is Noa who breaks it. "I am sorry for not saying anything when I went to Texas." It is weird. Noa never said sorry for the fact that she chose for herself. But with Matt it felt different. "You don't have to be sorry at all," He says. Noa was relieved. "I mean, it would've been nice, but I understand if you didn't want to. It wasn't really fun for you either."

Noa is a little confused. Did he know what was going on? The only people that she knew that they knew were her teachers, parents, brothers, Ian and Loïs.
"Yeah, it really wasn't." Noa respondes. "But I'm still alive, so I think that counts?" They both laugh.

"I'm also sorry for ignoring you. I'm just a little confused that I was gonna see you again." "You don't have to. I was also really confused. But also excited. You know what I mean?" "Yeah..."

Again they stay silent, but it is nice. Finally speaking to each other again. "Okay, I'm going back to bed." Noa says, while yawning. "Yeah me too," Matt says. "And Nox, if you wanna talk about it, you can always come to me." "Thank you." Noa says with a smile.

Noa's Mind NOX, HE CALLED ME NOX

Noa's full name is Noa-Alex. When she was younger her step brothers somehow came up with Nox. No from Noa, X from Alex. Ever since then that name got used more than her actual name. Only close friends called her that. And Matt called her like that. Matt.

I actually loved writing this part so much. I just felt how Noa felt when she talked to Matt.
