Before the new group leave, Maria takes the pills she found in someone's bag at the airport, to kill herself and leave Parker to you and Ethan. She tells you that she could never connect with her son, and she wouldn't be able to protect him. His father was abusive and had left them, and now she was leaving him too. Both his parents left him on their own free will. Parker tries to shake her to wake her up when her eyes closed, but she doesn't. You take him away.
"Why isn't she waking up?"
"I'm sorry Parker. Your mom isn't going to wake up."
"She left me?" He says, looking down at the floor.
You don't want to lie to him, you were upset with Maria's actions too. "Yes, I'm so sorry sweetheart. You don't deserve it."
"I'm alone." Parker mumbles, a few tears running down his cheeks.
"No, baby." You wipe the tears with your thumb and then tilt his head up to make him look at you. "Your mom left you with me. I'm going to take care of you."
"Us." Ethan says coming up to the two of you. "She left you with us. We're going to protect you, Parker."
You smile gratefully, a relieved sigh escaping your lips as you sniffle slightly, holding back your own tears. You didn't want Ethan to feel obligated, but you're relieved he was going to help you take care of him.
Suddenly you and Ethan are parents together and about to travel through this new, unknown and dangerous world. Unsure of what life is going to be like, if you survived that is.

(Not sure how they escape the airport. Some might die on the way. Hope to write a little for it someday, when I'm inspired.)
