Your group live in cars as you travel, having found some that works to live in and can take some hits. You've become good at hiding the vehicles if necessary and have scavenged for a lot of supplies for the journey. You, Ethan and Parker always share a car and sleep in it. Ethan's plan to keep you at arms length didn't go as planned. He tries not to, but it's hard not to fall for you. However, he ignores it and focus on keeping you and Parker alive.
Now basically parents together, you work together on not just staying alive and keeping your group alive, but also raising a child. Which is something that's unknown territory for both of you. You didn't ask for it, but you take your new roles and responsibility seriously and actually don't mind it.
Ethan pulls the backseats forward to make more space and you put a blanket inside. The backpacks are on the side so you and Ethan have it as support while having Parker sleeping in between you. You shiver slightly from the cold. Ethan wraps his arm around you, pulling you both close.
...
You're startled awake. Zombies roam mindlessly outside the car. You try to reach for your weapon.
"Don't." Ethan whispers and you freeze.
You all lay completely still, and they eventually pass. Parker struggles to fall asleep again. And when he can't sleep, you can't sleep either. You glance at Ethan and find him snoring softly. You smile and stroke his hair, then caressing his face lovingly.
...
Your group travel for weeks and months, staying in abounded houses sometimes and have to change vehicles with fuel when the former goes empty. The weather is getting warmer as the summer approaches.
Parker isn't as intimidated by zombies and other nasty things, like open wounds. He even helps you treat them if there's something he can do. He'll assist by handing you the things you ask for. You teach him what's what and he enjoys helping.
Parker's very cooperative in everything. He always does what he's told, as best he can as long he understands what you're saying.
What seems to be his biggest fear, is you or Ethan leaving him. He's just a toddler, so of course he's completely dependent on you, but he isn't open to connect with any of the others in the group. When they try to talk or play with him, he barely even acknowledge them. He seems to be more scared of people than the dead walking around. It's not like he's fascinated by them, he prefers to stay far away. But people, other than you or Ethan, is out of the question.
He is constantly attached to either of the two of your hips, completely dependent on you at all times. Very soon, you start to love him like he's your own. Parker is now being cared for like he's never been before. The three of you become a family.
As time goes by, the group becomes strong and work well together. You trust and care about each other. And between you and Ethan, the feelings only grow. Still none of you do something about it, only focusing on Parker and staying alive.
...
Parker had stumbled and hit his arm while walking, so he's struggling to get in a comfortable position in the car now. You move so Parker can climb over you. He gets settled on your other side, laying on the arm that doesn't hurt. Eventually, he falls asleep and you soon after.
Your hair fall to the side and you're sleeping in a top this warm night, displaying your exposed neck and shoulder. Ethan swallows nervously as he tries to distract himself to fall asleep.
After a few minutes, he moves slightly to lean up and see if you're sleeping, and you are. He can't help himself as he looks at your exposed neck. He's so close, so he tenderly brushes his lips against your skin. With a pained sigh, he lays back into the spooning position and his face naturally nuzzle into your hair and neck.
Ethan then moves his hips away from you, so that a certain growing bulge doesn't make contact with your behind.
"What are you doing to me, Yn?" He whispers to himself.
