  Your group has stopped in one of the two cities made in this area, to earn enough for fuel and food to continue on your way. The area you have travelled in is affected by regular harsh dust storms. Dust from the desert has blown into the city, almost buried it. It was badly damaged by the initial chaos of the apocalypse anyway. But people that tried coming back here found a big warehouse kind of building that kept the sand out. It isn't big but they still call it a city, because most survivors had gathered to live there.

  Inside they've made homes and a market. It's not good access to water and food, so they get help by the few other cities that deliver such supplies to them. But it's still not great, so the people here are struggling. And the cities that are doing well, refuse to take people.

  Today is the one year anniversary for when you and Ethan took in Mia. Instead of celebrating birthdays, you celebrate something you're calling their adoption day. You've just set the date from when they started being with you and Ethan long term. And on their first adoption day you get to give them a middle name. When Parker had been yours for one year, together you gave him his name, Parker Deru Stone.

  Ethan agreed to name him after your father. You were raised by your adoptive single father who worked hard to provide for and raise you and your brothers. He was a firefighter. He was already a single father to his biological son when he saved you and your biological brother from a fire, in which your parents died, he had adopted the two of you afterwards.

Your father had done the same tradition with you and your brother. He gave you middle names. His biological son was already named by him. But he let him help choose your middle names, because adopting you and your brother was a decision they made together.

(I wrote it like this because I'm thinking about adding a family I have in mind for Yn. But I'm not sure, so I might remove it later. I've been writing a new 'Ethan Stone' story where I created three characters as Yn's family. The book is titled 'The Games' and I have now started to want to write more of that family dynamic I created for Yn. So I just wanted to try writing it here to see what I'll do. But for now, let's just say they're are dead, until I can decide on whether or not I'm gonna have them appear sometime during this story. I'm actually thinking about going back further in the story and put them in Haven. So she's reunited with them there, and they might a little family conflict during that because she wanted to leave to find Ethan and Parker.
But I feel like I'm keeping way too many important characters alive and it might be a little unrealistic. I wanted Ethan's whole family to be alive because I liked the idea of having that surprisingly happy ending in a story put in a dystopian and dangerous world. Though I then just didn't really have a family in mind for Yn.
Point is, if I add Yn's family also being alive and they find them, then is that too much unrealistic happiness for this story?
Lol. Though that is what I like to do when I write as an escape. I personally hate sad endings where basically everybody dies or something, even when it's realistic for the story.)

  The last few weeks Ethan has been working late here in this city because of a project him and the other guys in your group are working on to earn your stay, and for your future journey after leaving. But he promised Mia he would make it before she fell asleep tonight. And since it was her adoption day, they were allowed to stay up to wait for him. Parker fell asleep half an hour ago even though he tried hard not to.

  Mia yawns and you give her a half smile, trying to reassure her he would make it in time. She was trying really hard to stay awake.
