"The only real battle in life is between hanging on and letting go."

Suzuka, Japan"Good morning!" Kim exclaimed as the group of four stepped into the car.
"Good morning, I'm Emiko by the way," Emiko muttered sleepily, still feeling the effects of Kotoko's nagging last night. She squeezed into the very left side of the car, followed by Kotoko and the two boys, who also greeted everyone.
It was cramped, to say the least, but they could survive.
"I'm Kim, Oscar's trainer. Seems like we have two sleepy heads in our car today." Kim laughed, nodding towards the sleeping figure in the front seat. "Oscar seemed to have had a night."
"So did you," Kotoko grinned, nudging Emiko. "Right, Emi?"
Emiko rolled her eyes.
Flashback to the night before.
"Emiko, I thought you said your meeting was the whole day?" Kotoko asked, finding the platinum blonde-haired girl already in her pajamas, relaxing on the bed while watching Netflix.
"I did." Emiko avoided eye contact as Kotoko narrowed her eyes.
Emiko felt the heat of Kotoko's eyes and finally gave in. "Fine, it was only in the morning."
Kotoko sighed heavily and sat on the edge of the bed. "Why do you keep avoiding Oscar?"
"I'm n-"
"That's bullshit. Why did you even come if you were going to do this?" Kotoko interjected.
"I didn't know we were watching F1. And besides, you were the one who said we would go," Emiko reminded her, feeling her skin start to boil.
"You told me you were fine with anythin-"
"Okay, well, I didn't know we would be watching F1." Emiko rolled her eyes, sitting up and turning off the TV.
"Why are you so childish about this, Emiko? Oscar didn't do anything to you. Why do you keep avoiding him?" Kotoko bit back.
"I'm not!" Emiko's voice rose, her frustration growing by the second.
"What is it because he didn't keep in contact with you? It has been seven years since Emiko! You know he hasn't been in the mood the whole day since he found out you weren't coming. He thought it was because of him! But the thing is he didn't even know what he did wrong." Kotoko rose from the bed looking down on Emiko as Emiko avoided eye contact.
"That doesn't mean I'm childish." Emiko mumbled looking at her suitcase on the floor.
"It does! You either talk to him about whatever happened that gets you so riled up or you act more mature and leave whatever happened between the two of you, seven years ago, in the past. You're 23, Emiko, not 16." Kotoko opened her phone, tapping on something before throwing it on the bed.
"Do what you will. I already gave him your number." Kotoko turned on her heels and made her way into the bathroom.
Emiko stared at the phone. Oscar's contact.
She knew Kotoko was right. She knew she was being childish but... it still hurt her.
"Emiko, you're 23, not 16. Act more mature, will you?" With a sigh, she took her phone and typed in the number.
