Regulus Black

Regulus didn't know what to expect for this year, correction, he wasn't sure what to expect ever since he saw his brother's photo in the newspaper on July 31st. He had plans before that, at least he hoped to have a much calmer year after the destruction of the Horcruxes, but well, he could deal with his older brother's escape after everything he did to get rid of his old dark master's soul fragments.

The fact that everyone agreed not to tell Harry about that tiny but very important part of the story helped a lot. Well, it would have helped if Harry hadn't somehow found out.

Regulus spent several weeks, especially after the Halloween invasion, torn between suspicion of Remus Lupin and gratitude that Harry didn't ask him about Sirius.

He didn't expect, however, that Harry hadn't connected the dots between the two brothers, although there used to be many Blacks out there causing trouble, nowadays there are only two people with that surname, but maybe Harry doesn't know that Regulus hadn't told the boy much about his family.

That is until that night. It's late Saturday and there's only one week left for the kids to go home for Christmas break, Regulus is tired, sitting in his office after a long afternoon visiting Hogsmeade and having an uninteresting meeting with Minister Fudge who seems to be getting more incompetent with each passing year.

Regulus didn't have anything against the short man at first, but Fudge fell for the sweet talk of several of Regulus' old friends, and he didn't seem to be handling Sirius' escape properly, who in their right mind would put dementors on a school grounds, wizards or not most of the students don't know how to deal with those creatures. Whether because they are too young or because they had very incompetent teachers to teach them how to defend themselves against dark creatures.

Anyway, he found the Minister as well as some other professors in a bar where only those over sixteen could enter. There he was informed that the search for Sirius continued, but no leads were seen other than the invasion of Hogwarts.

The others commented on how tragic Potter's story was as if any of them had any idea of what the boy went through living with his aunt and uncle.

Blah blah blah. Empathy from those who won't do anything to help him. It was Minerva who mentioned Pettigrew and how James and Sirius' friend were murdered when trying to confront and stop Sirius on the night of the Potter's betrayal.

Regulus hoped to leave the uncomfortable subject of his traitorous brother in that bar, but knocks on his door changed his plans.

When he called the person, whoever it was, to come in, he expected Stevens with some interesting gossip to distract him or even a complaint. He didn't expect a furious thirteen-year-old Harry Potter to almost invade his office.

For a moment, Regulus was worried that the boy had hurt himself, his green eyes were slightly swollen and red as if he had cried before. But Black recognized the fury amidst the green irises.

The expression of anger was just like James', but Harry was certainly more controlled than his father. James was much more explosive, he would come in shouting, banging, and exploding when irritated. Harry stood there facing the furious man for a few seconds, much more than James was capable of before starting to shout.

"You knew," he accused angrily.

Damn. Regulus groaned internally, he didn't want to have this conversation now, but he wouldn't have much of a choice.

"Harry," he said, keeping his tone calm, hiding everything under his usual mask.

"You knew all along," he shouted.
