Jack pov.
Alex and I had left his house and made our way to downtown London. He had a favorite restaurant and wanted to take me to try it, and I agreed. I've always trusted him, so this time shouldn't be different. I sat in the passenger seat as he drove, and he asked me to find something on the music app to start playing. Immediately, I searched up The Wonder Years. To me, it didn't matter if he's heard of them or not, he's going to now.
As soon as I saw a song I liked (more than all the others) I pressed it and it began to play. Cardinals as a first song choice was a good decision, because Alex really liked it. He asked me to play it again, and I did, happy he was getting into one of my favorite bands.
We rocked out the whole ride to other bands like Modern Baseball, the artist Butch Walker, and brushed up with some blink-182 and Green Day and Weezer.
As soon as we pulled up, we both started laughing. I looked over at him and he looked so happy, but I felt that he hasn't been this joyous for a while. I just looked at him, not being able to fully believe I'm here, he's here, and we're finally happy together.
His laughter soon settled into a large grin as he turned off the car. We both got out and I came around to him and sneaked my arm around his waist. When he looked up at me I caught his lips for a quick kiss.
We walked into the small-ish restaurant and immediately I was faced with all kinds of smells. I smiled at the old-city-feel, missing it, in all honesty. We stood waiting for a minute before a chirpy girl with pushed-up boobs, crop-top and short shorts hopped up to us. her hair was short and styled to the left and curled at the bottom, the right side shaved. she told us her name was Maddie and she wasn't a prostitute, which I couldn't believe for a few minutes.
Maddie took us to our table and gave us a dinner menu, along with a happy hour drink menu. as if it were a gun, Maddie pulled out her notepad and pen very quickly and was ready to write down our order.
"A drink to start off, gentlemen?" she chirped.
I nodded and got a simple coke, though Alex preferred a martini. the girl gave a flirty smile and bit her lip at me, looking me up and down. I looked down at my menu and avoided giving her anymore eye contact that would mislead her. she 'fixed' her booty shorts to show more skin than necessary.
she was finally out of earshot and I sighed, looking at Alex with apologetic eyes. I looked back down, filled with embarrassment, and thats when I felt a warm, soft hand grab one of mine and rub little circles. I looked at my hand for a second before bringing my eyes to his. he had a smile on his face and that caused me to form my own smile.
"It's alright, Jack. she's just a dog begging to be pet. dont let her pull you down." he said sweetly, leaning over and pecking my lips just as said 'dog' came back. she stopped just a foot away from our table and stared at us, before turning and walking quickly back. Alex and I looked until she left, both of us surprised, but when we looked at each other we broke out laughing.
our laughter softened as a different woman came up to our table with out drinks we had asked for. "so sorry about that, gentlemen. your previous waitress' shift ended so she left. I will be serving you from now on. still looking at the menu? should I coke back in a few moments?"
Alex nodded in response to her question, sending her off to the kitchen once again. " "her shift ended". yeah, okay." I said, earning a laugh from Alex and myself. "I dont know what to order, I cant say I've ever been here. everything sounds great."
"get the lobster. I think it tastes the best, honestly." Alex responded with, not moving his eyes away from his menu. I narrowed my own at him and looked down at the menu, my eyes soon widening.
