"Tell me everything. How'd you do it? Was he mad? What'd he say?" Jaslene rambled, laying on her stomach beaming at Carolina. The girl laughed at her best friend from her leaned back on the headboard position. "I just told him I wanted to break up and I was done with him. Yes, he was mad. He said a lot of stuff."
It's now Sunday. Carolina went home at 11pm the night before after laying with Lamine for a while and then eating dinner with his mother, Kenye, and him. Lamine drove her back to her house and the pair blasted music the whole way, as they usually do.
"I'm sorry, Lina. I know you really liked him but I also think that this is best for you," Jaslene frowned, "and you can have a hot girl summer when school's over!," her expression quickly changed into a happy one.
Carolina laughed at the girls words. Jaslene and Lamine are the two people who know how to brighten her day just by talking with her.
"No hot girl summer for me, I need to focus on me and soccer." Carolina replied. Jaslene rolled her eyes, "no fun! But I'm proud of you, Lina."
The girls talked like this for a while, enjoying the rest of their free time before they had school the next day and Carolina would be busy with managing the schools soccer team. Jaslene had stayed a few times with her for her to have some company.
After hours of hanging out, Jaslene left for the night. Carolina said goodnight to her brother, then she got ready for bed.
The girl put on a face mask after showering and brushing her teeth. She had to leave it on for 15 minutes so she got in bed to get comfortable and watch a movie. Carolina decided on watching To All The Boys I've Loved Before, it's been the girls comfort movie since it came out. 5 minutes into the film, she felt her phone begin to ring besides her.

The boy, clearly not at home, laughed when he saw the red face mask Carolina had rubbed on her cheeks.
"What the hell is on your face?"He continued laughing as the girl rolled her eyes with a smile. "It's a face mask!" She moved her head to show a better angle of her cheeks, "cute right? Very flattering."
"Oh for sure." Lamine joked back, shaking his head at the girl.
Noticing his attire, she asked, "what you up to? You like nice for once." Carolina smiled. "Thank you for that almost compliment," he laughed a bit, "but just finishing up dinner with my family, I stepped out for some air." He replied. "You're very welcome. For air? Everything okay?" Carolina asked genuinely.
"Everything's good, just wanted to check up on you, that's all." He replied, sitting down on one of the chairs in the lobby of the restaurant he was currently at. "Aw, you care about me?" Carolina joked. "Just a little bit." Lamine returned the joke.
"But seriously, how are you?" He followed up. "I'm okay, hung out with Jaslene earlier. That helped me get everything out again and now I'm just focusing on moving past it." Carolina replied. "That's good, I'm glad to hear." Lamine said with a smile that Carolina effortlessly returned back at the boy she called her best friend.
The pair stayed on FaceTime while lamine looked around the fancy restaurant, going up on the elevators discovering that there was a hotel connected to it, and coming back down.
"I'll call you when I get home if you're not already sleeping by then, okay?" Lamine said. Carolina nodded, "okay Ami, get home safe!" Lamine nodded back in response but looked away as his mother had called his name, "okay, see you tomorrow, reina." Carolina responded a "see you tomorrow, Ami," before they had ended the call.
