The laughter that echoed in the car was a melody Jimin hadn't heard in years.
Hoseok was finally laughing again, his eyes sparkling with a joy that had been absent since the accident.
Jungkook ofcourse was the catalyst for this newfound happiness.
Jimin was driving the car when he watched them through the rearview mirror.
He felt his heart swelling with a bittersweet emotion.
He was happy for Hoseok, yet the reminder of the pain that had shadowed the younger for like five years tugged at his heartstrings.
The car stopped abruptly.
Jimin, aware of the unspoken tension, turned to Hoseok. "So...This is your stop, Hobi" he asked, trying to sound casual.
Hoseok blinked, momentarily confused. "But this isn't..." His voice trailed off as realization dawned upon him.
The apartment....the life he was now obligated to....was in the opposite direction.
The truth, as painful as it was, hit him like a wave.
He couldn't go home with Jimin or Jungkook...not now....not with Yoongi most probably waiting for him.
He forced a smile, trying to mask the turmoil within.
"Thanks for the ride, Jimin. Alright....Thanks, Jungkook for accompning me and buying the medicines!!" he said, his voice strained with an effort to sound cheerful. "I'll see you guys later."
Jungkook's heart dropped in his stomach due to fear and ached at the forced cheer in Hoseok's voice.
Hoseok was about to leave him!!!
He wanted to stop him...to pull him back...to hold him close and whisper, "I am back, Hoseok. I regreat everything.. I love you!!,"
But his words were trapped, choked by the fear of past.
He could only watch helplessly as Hoseok stepped out of the car and walked away.
The evening light cast long shadows as Hoseok stepped out of the car, a bittersweet smile playing on his lips.
Jimin watched him with a mixture of worry and pain.
"Take care, Hoseok," Jimin said, his voice laced with unspoken concern.
He knew what awaited Hoseok back at his home the suffocating presence of Yoongi.
Hoseok smiled again, a fragile gesture that masked a storm brewing within him.
