Holiday Heroine(RWBY X OC)

Chapter 9

Jack, Crystal, and Lilac readied their weapons as the Ursa Major let out a mighty roar. Nichole and Arian circled around the beast and ran into the cave undetected. 

When they were in the clear, Jack was the first to attack the Ursa with his axe in tow. In close proximity, he swung it down in hopes of slashing the creature on the nose. However, the Grimm saw this coming and leapt forward to invade the attack. Its claws lashed out at the hunter, forcing him back. 

Crystal summoned more small rocks in her hand and threw it at the Grimm's eyes. The dark creature reeled back in pain, giving Lilac a chance to advance and attack it with her electric powers. 

The bear let out a loud shriek, making the other huntsmen cringe. With them vulnerable, the Grimm slams its front paws on the ground, causing a shockwave that sent pieces of wood flying. As the huntsmen scattered, the creature charged forward with no sign of stopping. 

"Oh shit!" The reptile faunus exclaimed, pushing her teammates to the side. She flipped over the Grimm and lashed out her weapon.

As she landed on the ground, the whip caught onto its tail. She began to pull on it, holding it steady.

"If y'all want to get another free hit in, now's your chance!" Crystal called out to her teammates.

Lilac and Jack looked at each other before scrambling to their feet and charged towards the Ursa. Both leaped into the air, bringing their weapons down on the Grimm's head with a powerful slam. 

Before it could connect, the Ursa let out a final roar before being reduced to ashes. The other hunters let out a tired sigh after defeating the Grimm. 

"Looks like Nichole and Arian must've killed the nest." Jack huffed.

"Seems like it." Crystal sighed, putting her whip away. "Should we go in after them?"

"Nah, they'll be fine." Lilac smirked. "They should be marching out of there right about...now!"

The purple huntress pointed at the cave, expecting them to emerge in heroic glory. But they didn't. Lilac waved her hand, waiting for their return but nothing came of it. She glanced nervously between her two teammates, feeling very embarrassed from what just happened. 

"Alright, maybe they're not okay." The purple huntress said sheepishly. The two hunters glance at each other for a moment. "Let's go get them."

As the three were about to approach the cave, a huge bird-like Grimm blocked their path. 

"You gotta be kidding me!" Crystal growled, whipping out her weapon.

"Fight now, cry later." Jack lectured, also retrieving his weapon.

The Grimm let out a loud squawk before swooping in on them. They all jump out of the way to avoid its sharp talons. 

Crystal used her whip as a lasso to catch the bird's talons, in hopes of tying it down. This didn't work as the creature floated up and caught the whip with its feet, taking Crystal with it.

"Oh no!" Lilac cried. "Crystal, let go!"

"Ugh, I'm trying to!" The lizard faunus growled, her grip tightening as the Grimm soared in the sky. Her heart sank as soon as she looked down, noticing how high she was. 

"We need to get her down before the Grimm kills her." Jack told his teammate.

"Right." The purple huntress nodded in agreement. "But, how?"

The green hunter glanced between his teammate and the bird Grimm that was suspended in the air. He opened up his pouch and only had a few beans left, four to be exact. He has to use them wisely or else they'll be stumped.
