The entire time Muichiro was walking back, he couldn't help but think about that boy. He had seen him in the village, and in his training room. that's why he was familiar. The only thing that wasn't familiar was his actions. Muichiro didn't think he'd see the guy sitting on the side of the road crying. The vulnerability made him feel more comfortable around him though, weirdly enough.
Muichiro guessed he just felt like he had someone to relate to, even without knowing his situation. Maybe he would talk to him sometime. He seemed friendly enough when he wasn't mad.
-------------------
Genya sat in his room, now on house arrest. He cursed at his brother silently, and then took it back and apologized. He was no better than that rude blonde guy, who he assumed to be one of Tanjiro's friends.
Jeeze, Tanjiro has the weirdest friends.
That got him thinking, am I a weird friend? Of course he was. He still couldn't get over the fact that the Mist hashira had seen him on the side of the road, crying. I don't think a first impression could've gone worse.
In the midst of his thoughts, he heard a knock on his door. Maybe it was Himejima or something, coming to scold him again.
As he opened the door, his heart stopped, then started beating even faster than before.
"Hi. I just figured I'd stop buy. I heard you are on house arrest. Does that happen to do with something that happened the other day?"
Genya knew exactly what he was talking about. Please, can you just forget about that?
As Muichiro was looking at him, he realized something. He recognized him even more, but not him him. He recognized his face...
"Y'know, you look just like the wind hashira. It's almost uncanny."
"Um... yeah. I'm his brother."
"Oh. Ohh. You have something to do with that fight the other day, huh. So you're basically in time-out?"
Why'd he have to call it that? "How about you come inside?" Genya said with false cheer, trying to hide his mortification. He felt his cheeks burn red with embarrassment.
Tokito was not helping. "You're very red. Are you sick?"
"No, I'm not. I'm just a little sunburned."
"How'd you get a sunburn if since the last time I saw you, you've been insi-"
"Do you want something to eat, or drink, Tokito? I can make some tea." Genya shut that down as soon as possible.
"No thanks. And you can call me Muichiro. Hey, do you keep bonsai trees? There're pretty neat."
"Yeah, I do." No matter what Muichiro said, Genya felt embarrassed. Maybe Muichiro was just good at picking out embarrassing things like that.
-------------------
Genya was on his way to see Tanjiro, whom he trusted enough to tell about how Muichiro had been talking to him the past two weeks. He truly wasn't sure what to do.
"He keeps stopping by my house, and I'm not sure what to do.
"Well, you did tell me once that you wanted to be his friend, and maybe he's trying to give you that chance." Genya considered this info. Tanjiro loved helping him out with these situations, but he also seemed like he knew more than he was letting on, which stressed Genya out a little bit.
"You should take him somewhere, like a picnic or something. That seems like a very friendly thing to do. On top of that, I heard he's got a big appetite, so it would be great."
"Hmm, that's not a bad idea, I guess."
So that was the plan.
