Genya had just been pulled away by that rude yellow-haired boy. Man, what an awful situation. He felt bad for Tanjiro, who had taken all the hits for him, and he was also just heartbroken that the first meeting with his brother in around eight years had gone that badly.

I just wanted to talk to him... I've put my body through hell just to see him.

He looked around, making sure no one saw him....

-------------------

Muichiro Tokito had been taking a walk in his free time. That's when he had, from afar, spotted a purple and black lump on the side of the path. Curiosity got the better of him and he decided to go investigate.

When he got closer, he had realized that it was a person, sitting with his head in his hands. It wasn't a demon, as it was the middle of the day, but instead, he recognized the outfit, though he couldn't remember where from.

When he got a little closer, he heard a strange sound coming from the boy.

"Hey, are you crying?"

-------------------

In the midst of his pity party, Genya hadn't realized someone had snuck up on him.

Furthermore, he recognized the voice and instantly panicked.

"Uhh.. no." Keeping his face hidden, he peered to the side just enough so he could see the person without them seeing him.

His fears had been confirmed. It was the mist hashira, and even though he had learned he was a boy and stopped crushing on him, he still thought he was cool and wanted to be his friend. Which made it all the more awkward and embarrassing.

As he was trying to figure out what to say, Tokito sat down next to him.

"Um, hey, it's alright. I think I recognize you. You were the boy from the swordsmith village, right? I'm Muichiro Tokito."

"Yeah.." Genya sniffled. He wished he would just go away, but then Tokito might think he was weird, crying on the side of the road like that.

"....what's wrong? Are you ok?"

There it was, the dreaded question. Of course he asked him that. Of course. In spite of himself, Genya felt hot tears dripping down his cheek. He debated whether he should have told him. He felt like he had to explain though, or maybe he could just come up with something...?

No. That would backfire quickly.

"I'm ok.. just having a bad day." Genya could feel his voice rising and becoming shaky. He was in too deep to back out, though. Hopefully the chat would end soon.

"Oh. I'm sorry. Actually, I should leave. You look like you want to be left alone."

"Um, no it's ok." Why, why did he say that?! "Oh my gosh, this is so embarrassing..." he said to himself.

"Yeah. I'd feel the same way if I were in your situation."

Oh, did he say that out loud?! Genya really wasn't helping himself. Tokito was never going to talk to him again. Genya decided that the best course of action would be to keep his mouth shut.

"Uhh, well, I have to get going. I hope you feel better."

"Mhhm. Thanks."

Genya was sure he'd ruined any chances to even talk to him again, there was no way he would ever want to be Genya's friend.

Though the confrontation had been a flop, Genya noticed something about the boy's eyes.

They looked as if they were no longer shrouded in mist, but instead, a clear, crystalline, seafoam blue.
