An Expression of grief over the results of war
A Bhagavad Gita was revealed on the battlefield of the Mahabharat War that broke out between two cousins of the same dynasty, the Kauravas and the Pandavas.(The whole basics of this events which led to this great war is mentioned under the Part : 1 and Part : 2 in my profile)
The revelation of the Bhagavad Gita begins as a dialogue between the blind king Dhritarashtra and his minister Sañjáya.
The King Dhritarashtra because of his blindness, couldn't be personally present at the battlefield. So Sañjáya was giving him a fresh account of information that what happening in the war field. Sañjáya was a disciple of Sage(Maharshi) Veda Vyasa, the famous author of the epic Mahabharata and many other Hindu Scriptures.
Sage(Maharshi) Ved Vyasa was possessed with some mysterious power that he was able to directly see the happenings in distant places. By the grace of his guru, Sanjaya also acquired the mystical power of Doordarshan(seeing distant vision). Therefore, Sanjaya could see and hear that what happening on the battlefield of Kurukshetra and give an account of information to the blind King Dhritarashtra, even though he was in the royal place.
Dhritarashtra said: "O Sanjay, after gathering on the holy field of Kurukshetra and desiring to fight, what did my sons and sons of Pandu do?"
Sanjay said: Seeing the Pandava's army arranged in military formation, King Duryodhana went to his guru Dronacharya.
Duryodhana said: Respected Acharya! Be hold the vast army of the sons of Pandu, strategised for war expertly by your trained wise disciple, the son of Draupad.
In this army of Pandavas there are many mighty archers like Arjuna great powerful warriors like Bhima, Yuyudhan, Virat all are great warriors. His army also includes the mighty Yudhamanyu, the valiant Uttamauja, the son of Subhadra and the sons of Draupadi, who are all the decidedly great warriors.
(Guru Dronacharya explaining to Duryodhana)Dronacharya Said: There are also the heroes of our army, who are especially skilled in managing our army. Now i am telling you in details.
In this army there are great warriors like yourself, Bhishma, Karna, Ashwatthama who are always victorious in battle. There are many others great warriors in our army who are ready to lay down their lives for me. They are skilled in warfare and are well equipped with various types of weapons.
Our military strength is unlimited and we are fully protected under the leadership of grandfather Bheeshma. While the military strength of the Pandavas army is limited despite being carefully protected under the leadership of Bhima.
Therefore, I request all the warriors that you all give full support to grandfather Bheeshma and firmly dedicated to him in every strategically points.
Grandfather Bheeshm, the great old elder of the then Kuru dynasty blew his conch which sounded like a lion's roar and loudly blew his conch, which made Duryodhana very happy.
Immediately conches, drums, trumpets began to sound together this mixture of sounds was extremely loud.
Lord Krishna and Arjuna seated on a magnificent chariot with white horses and they both are blew their divine conches in the midst of the army of the then Pandavas.
