Naina
The sunrays peeking throught the curtains woke me up in the morning. Running a hand through my hair I tried to wake myself up properly.
Looking at my left I saw Kabir sleeping on his stomach. His naked broad back was on full display and his muscles peaked through the comforter.
He is so strong
I got rid of the covers and got down from the bed, walking towards Kiara's crib. Surprisingly she was still not awake.
Strange. She usually wakes up around 6 in the morning and it was already seven thirty. I looked at her and noticed her chin trembling a little.
Placing a hand on her forehead I found it to be a little warm than normal. This made me panic a bit but I tried to stay calm and walked out of the door to call Bella.
A few minutes later I saw her walking upstairs and she was infront of me.
"I think Kiara is having fever. Please call her pediatrician and ask her what's wrong. If it's something serious then tell her that we would require her assistance."
"Right away ma'am."
As she went away I walked back to the bedroom and picked her up from the crib. She woke up from her sleep and stared at me for a moment before a little cry broke out from her mouth.
And in a few minutes she was wailing loudly. Walking through the room I tried to calm her down by bouncing her up and down but it did not help.
This was starting to worry me. In these five months this was the first time that she had fallen sick. I patted her back as she pushed her head to my chest still crying.
I turned around to walk to the bed but Kabir was already standing in front of me. He looked at Kiara moving around in my arms and forwarded his arms to take her.
Still crying she went into his arms as he rocked her back and forth.
"What happened?" His voice was hoarse and thick and his eyes were set on her crying form. He still did not look up from her. Kissing her head a few times he patted her back as she calmed down a little bit.
"I don't know. I woke up to check on her just fifteen minutes ago because she did not wake up on her usual time. And she had light fever. I told Bella to call the doctor. She might be coming soon."
Nodding, his attention went back to his daughter as he walked up to the bed and gently placed her down. She moved around being cranky and kicked her legs in the air still sniffing from time to time.
I sat beside her and patted her stomach while she moved around. Her body was still warm but thankfully she was not crying loudly anymore. Just small sniffs here and there.
Kabir came from the washroom and sat beside her on the other side of the bed, staring at her. This was not the first time in these five months where I saw him staring at her for so long.
Although throughout my pregnancy I thought that Kabir didn't care about the baby or me, I still wanted to wait till the baby came out.
He took care of me throughout the pregnancy. He was always there when I was in pain, during the painful nights or during the check up's. I could feel his care for me but he didn't make it obvious. I still think that was out of duty and not out of love. His care did not come from words, rather it came from actions.
There were no soft words of long conversations from his side, but his presence was always felt, still it did not make me think that all his actions towards me were because of his care, rather it looked more of an obligation to me.
