Chapter 15: The Pact

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, they sat on their porch. The children—now grown, with families of their own—visited occasionally. But Anthony and Sanele were bound by a pact—a promise to each other and to the sea, "Sanele," Anthony said, "we've lived a lifetime."

Sanele nodded. "And our love has outlasted time."

They held hands, their skin thin and fragile. The Durban moon watched from afar, its light touching their faces.
