I don't know why I thought going down this path was going to end any other way. It was fated from the start to blow up in my face, but I still chose to take Ace's hand and follow him down it regardless.

Even if it wouldn't have been Ace, it would've been someone else, and finished with the same shitty emotions no one ever wants to go through.

So why does it hurt so much more now with Ace-Grey, than it ever did with Wes?

As soon as I stumble out the front doors to the club, the soothing cold breeze whipping me square in the face stops my world from spinning, from crumbling, and pauses my life completely when I finally get the chance to breathe.

I suck air in like I'd been under water for far longer than I could handle, and if you really think about it, my lungs ain't wrong. I'd been holding my breath since Ace-Grey made it his mission to break me.

And break me he did.

Multiple eye stare at me with wariness and wonder. I'd gawk too, I must look a serious mess.

I was half way up the wall and about ready to pounce before Blair-

Blair!

She caught us. She knows the truth. And she was pissed.

Fuck. One problem at a time, please, Big Guy. I beg of you.

"Lucy!"

Just the sound of his voice calling out my name kicks my ass into gear and has me shooting out into the road, cars be damned - they have breaks for a reason, right?

The second I do just that, horns honking fill the night air. Rounds of gasps and yells of warning from people lining up to get inside go off too, but it's the rough warm hand wrapping around my upper arm that steals my attention and turns me to stone.

Ace looks down at me with a deep frown, his green eyes darkened by how narrow his hardened gaze is.

"You're not stupid, Snowflake. The fuck was that about?"

I allow him to lead me across the rest of the road, to the other side, safely. Removing his hand from my arm, he backs me up into a building wall, his huge body towering over me, caging me in like a trapped little birdie.

"That wasn't very fucking smart of you, Lucy. No matter how pissed you are at me, or anyone else, you don't ever put yourself at risk like that again. You got that?"

Now I've had a moment for the haze to lift, the reality of what happened tonight slaps me in the face like water over the head in a deep sleep.

"You," I sneer up at him. "You stay the fuck away from me. You lying asshole. You prick, you fucking prick, how could you do this to me? How?!"
