You grab your trunk, ready to leave for your first year at Hogwarts. Your father yells from downstairs, "Y/N, ARE YOU READY YET? IT'S TIME TO GO!" You sigh, feeling anxious, and rush downstairs.
As you descend, you grab the picture of your late mother. Your father looms over you, his voice menacing. "Remember, what happens at home stays at home. If I hear one word about you trying to escape me, I'll track you down and kill you. Do you understand me?" You nod, fearful.
He drags you to the car, muttering about how much he hates you and your newfound magic. Thirty minutes later, you arrive at the station, and he sends you on your way without a goodbye.
You sigh, looking for Platform 9 3/4. When you don't see it, you worry, but then you spot two red-haired boys disappearing into a wall. You approach their family, asking, "Um, excuse me, how do I...?"
The mother smiles warmly. "You must be a first year. My twins are too. Just run through that wall." You nod shyly and follow their instructions.
On the other side, you find the bustling platform. You board the train, searching for an empty compartment. The twins from earlier enter, grinning.
"Hey, I'm Fred Weasley," says one, and "And I'm George Weasley," says the other. You shake their hands, introducing yourself.
"Y/N L/N, nice to meet you," you say.
They notice the bruise on your arm and ask, "What's that?"
You pull your sleeve down, hesitant. "Oh, I fell out of a tree last week."
Fred pulls out his wand. "Episkey." The bruise heals instantly.
The twins laugh, asking in unison, "What are you, a Muggleborn?"
You nod slowly, scared they'll reject you. But instead, they become excited.
"That's so cool!" George exclaims. "What's it like in the Muggle world?"
You shrug. "It's different, but okay."
The train ride passes quickly as you chat with the twins. When it stops, you line up with the other first years.
Fred looks at you with George, saying, "Stick with us, y/n/n. We'll teach you about the wizarding world."
George nods. "Yep, you're stuck with us now. We can't let the Muggleborn fall behind."
Suddenly, Marcus Flint another first year approaches. "Did I hear that right? Weasels, she's a Mudblood!"
Fred and George stand protectively in front of you, wands drawn. "Watch your mouth, Flint," Fred growls.
George continues, "And don't use that word or we'll make you regret it."
Flint spits at their feet and walks off.
The twins turn to you, concerned. "Are you okay, y/n/n?"
You nod, asking, "What did he call me?"
Fred explains, "That word he used is a slur in the wizarding world. It means 'dirty blood.' Purebloods use it for Muggleborns."
George adds, "Most wizards won't use it. Our family's the only purebloods who don't care about that, which is why they call us blood traitors."
You nod, understanding.
The two red haired boys from earlier approach, asking if everything is okay. The twins explain the incident, introducing you.
"Y/N, these are our older brothers, Charlie and Percy," Fred says.
You shake their hands, feeling grateful for your new friends. You make your way to the boats, accompanied by the twins and another first year, Lee Jordan, who introduces himself as the "future Quidditch commentator." You all chat and laugh, becoming instant friends.
As you reach the castle, you're awestruck by its grandeur. The first years gather for the sorting ceremony.
When the hat places you in Gryffindor, along with the twins and Lee, you feel a sense of belonging.
At the Gryffindor table, you indulge in the abundant food, saying "I'm not used to so much food" Lee asks, "What do you mean you're not used to so much food?"
You turn away, realizing your mistake. "Oh, nothing. I just mean my father and I don't have a lot at home."
The twins and Lee nod understandingly.
Later, Charlie shows you to the Gryffindor common room, explaining the rules. In your dorm, you meet Angelina and Alicia, feeling hopeful about your new life at Hogwarts, away from your father's cruelty.
Marcus Flint's earlier slur still echoes in your mind, but with your new friends by your side, you feel a sense of protection and belonging.
