Amelia
After our little fight, Harry and I went back inside and back to being in our previous great moods. We sat down next to Lisa and Nathan again, just in time for the Gala to start. The Winter Gala was the most wonderful event in the entire year, for me at least. It was an event for the students on the last year of the degree, where they auctioned a few items and all the money raised was used for scholarships for kids with limited resources and for research programs. Some parents, teachers and influential people would also be invited to the Gala, because there were some auction items that practically no student would be able to buy. Still, the Gala made a lot of money each year to help a lot of students and, of course, to finance great investigations, especially for students' thesis.
Since my first year, I wanted to go to the Gala. On my second year, I managed to get there because I was the one writing the article for the school paper. And that only made me want to attend even more when my time had come, which was now. I was so excited to be there, I was not going to let a fight come and ruin mine and Harry's day.
The ceremony started with a little presentation of the Gala, and what the main goals were. After that, the students band presented a musical number. When the prizes finally started being showed and auctioned, the whole room went crazy.
"I need to use the bathroom. I'll be right back." I whispered in Harry's ear.
The bathroom was outside the room, on a corridor that led outside. Luckily, there was no line, so I did my business, washed my hands and made my way back to the table. Before reaching the room though, I saw Jensen walking in the opposite direction. When he saw me, he stopped.
"Hey, Amelia." He said, trying to smile. He looked awkward, scratching the back of his head. I couldn't blame him.
"Hi." I said, smiling at him and trying to make him a little more comfortable. "I'm glad I found you. I think I own you an explanation."
"Well, it is kinda weird that you're here with Harry, looking like a couple." He said, crossing his arms over his chest. "But you don't own me anything."
"I still would like to explain." I told him honestly. "Harry and I, we've been hanging out for months now. I was constantly telling him I didn't want anything serious, but during winter vacation something changed."
"So now you're dating him?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm dating him." I nodded. Jensen nodded too, understandingly, and then sighed.
"Well, I'm happy you're happy." He said, sounding truthful.
"Thank you, Jensen! I hope you find a nice girl for you; you deserve it." I told him.
"Thanks! Have fun tonight." He laughed, pointing back at the Gala. "I think your man wants to take you out for a weekend."
"What do you mean?" I frowned.
"One of the prizes is a weekend in London and Harry was pretty serious about getting it." He laughed. "I can tell why you like him. He's a great guy!"
After what Jensen told me, I almost ran back to my table. If Harry was actually trying to get us a weekend in London, I would be so damn happy. I've told him before that I wanted to go to London, because I've never been there, so it would be an amazing trip. As soon as I got to the table, Harry, Nathan and Lisa were chatting happily.
