Lucy stood frozen, her gaze fixed on the crocodile, its eyes glinting with primal hunger. Her legs trembled involuntarily as fear gripped her.
"Guys, what should we do now?"
In a swift motion, Alvin sprang into action, grabbing stones and hurling them towards the predator. The crocodile, startled by the onslaught, retreated hastily into the murky depths. Turning back to the group with a composed demeanor, Alvin declared, "There, problem solved."
But Sofia shook her head vehemently. "No, the problem isn't solved. That thing is still out there in the river. I'm not getting into that boat because there's a chance that crocodile could still come back," she insisted.
Alice, her brow furrowed in concern, examined the small boat.
"She's right. That boat is fragile. If that crocodile attacks us, it could easily capsize us."
The group lapsed into a heavy silence, each member grappling with the gravity of their predicament. Alvin, sensing the need to regroup, found a large stone to sit on, closing his eyes briefly in thought. Alex, looking to Alvin for guidance, broke the silence.
"So, Alvin, any thoughts?"
Opening his eyes wearily, Alvin spoke calmly but with a hint of fatigue creeping into his voice.
"Well, why don't we just go home for now? We can come back tomorrow when we're better prepared."
Leo disagreed with Alvin's suggestion. "I don't think we should wait. We've found a lead. We should pursue it now. Besides, my parents might ground me if we go home right now cause you know I got suspended."
Kimmy, echoing Leo's sentiment, added firmly, "I agree. We shouldn't waste this opportunity."
Alvin challenged them gently. "Alright, but if we're going ahead, how do you propose we cross this river?"
Leo and Kimmy exchanged uncertain glances, realizing they hadn't considered the logistics beyond reaching the riverbank. Alvin's calm demeanor contrasted sharply with the urgency of their situation, his words prompting a pause for reflection among the group.
"Let's take a moment to think this through," Alvin continued calmly, his fatigue evident as he stifled a yawn.
"When you have a plan, then we can discuss it."
With that, Alvin closed his eyes again, seeking a brief respite amidst the uncertainty. The group dispersed slightly along the riverbank, each lost in their thoughts, pondering the next crucial steps while the nocturnal sounds of the forest enveloped them in an eerie silence.
Ava nudged Alice's shoulder, leaning in to whisper urgently in her ear. "Hey, why don't you go and do something about your boyfriend? We need him to think, and it feels like he's giving up."
Alice raised her eyebrows, caught off guard. "What do you mean? I don't know how to do that."
Ava rolled her eyes slightly. "Come on! Cheer him up, encourage him. There must be something you can do to get him thinking again and come up with a plan for that creepy crocodile."
Alice bit her lip, her mind racing, but no immediate ideas came to her. Seeing her hesitation, Ava leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Why don't you seduce him?"
Alice's eyes widened, a mix of shock and embarrassment flooding her cheeks with heat. "Ava, are you freaking out of your mind? Don't tell me you are serious?"
Ava nodded firmly. Alice looked into Ava's eyes; they were serious and unwavering, causing Alice to blush even more. Her cheeks flushed a deep pink, and she quickly averted her gaze, feeling a mix of nervousness and determination.
