After spending a night of emotional revelations and heartfelt confessions, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan woke to a quiet, hazy dawn. The early morning light filtered gently through the thin curtains of their inn room, casting a soft glow over the room’s modest furnishings. The silence was comforting, a stark contrast to the whirlwind of emotions they had experienced the previous night.

Wei Ying stirred first, his mind already active, replaying the events of the night. The warmth of Lan Zhan's embrace and the sweet, intense kisses were still fresh in his memory. As he slowly opened his eyes, he turned to see Lan Zhan, who lay beside him, his face relaxed in sleep. The sight brought a smile to Wei Ying’s lips, a sense of contentment settling over him.

He carefully untangled himself from the sheets and rose quietly, not wanting to disturb Lan Zhan’s rest. The inn room was small but cozy, with a wooden table and a couple of chairs beside a window. Wei Ying moved to the window, drawing back the curtains just enough to let in the morning light. The world outside was bathed in a soft golden hue, the promise of a new day.

As Wei Ying gazed out, his thoughts drifted back to their conversation from the previous night. The confessions had laid bare their deepest feelings, but now they faced the challenge of navigating the future together. The complexities of their world, with its expectations and responsibilities, loomed large in Wei Ying’s mind.

Lan Zhan stirred, sensing the movement beside him. He opened his eyes to find Wei Ying standing by the window, bathed in the soft light of dawn. Lan Zhan sat up, rubbing his eyes slightly before moving to join Wei Ying.

“Good morning,” Lan Zhan said quietly, his voice still tinged with sleep.

“Good morning,” Wei Ying replied, turning to face him with a gentle smile. “Did you sleep well?”

Lan Zhan nodded, though his eyes were filled with a mixture of concern and affection. “I did, but I’ve been thinking about everything. There is so much we need to discuss.”

Wei Ying nodded in agreement. “Yes, there is. But let’s take it one step at a time. We can start by talking about how we move forward.”

They sat at the small table, the morning light warming the room. Wei Ying poured tea for both of them, a comforting ritual that always helped him think more clearly. Lan Zhan accepted the cup with a nod of thanks, and they sipped in silence for a moment, gathering their thoughts.

“I know last night was overwhelming,” Lan Zhan began, breaking the silence. “I want you to know that my feelings for you are genuine. I never intended to cause you any distress or confusion.”

Wei Ying reached out, placing a hand gently on Lan Zhan’s. “I understand. And I appreciate your honesty. I was just as confused, but I realize now that we both have deep feelings for each other.”

Lan Zhan’s eyes softened. “Yes. I’ve been thinking about our future together. I want to take you to Gusu, to be with you and support you. But I also know that it’s not going to be easy. There are many things we need to address.”

Wei Ying nodded, his mind racing with the possibilities. “We do need to talk about what we both want and how we can make it work. I also need to address my own concerns, especially regarding my cultivation and the issues I’ve been facing.”

Lan Zhan’s expression grew serious. “We will face those challenges together. I’m here to support you in every way I can. We can work through your cultivation issues, and I want to ensure that you’re protected from any harm.”

Wei Ying smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude and love for Lan Zhan. “Thank you. That means more to me than you know. I was afraid that your feelings for me were more about control than care, but now I see that you genuinely want to be with me.”
