The days following their confrontation with Tia were filled with a tense quietness. Dada, Marina, and Eva focused on their art, trying to find solace in their work. Yet, the shadow of Tia’s betrayal lingered, gnawing at Dada’s mind.

One morning, Dada sat in the kitchen, nursing a cup of coffee. She scrolled through the news on her phone, hoping for a distraction. Her eyes skimmed over headlines until one caught her attention:

**"Prominent Marine Biologist Lost at Sea"**

Dada’s heart skipped a beat as she clicked on the article. The name jumped out at her—Marina. She read on, her hands trembling.

**"Dr. Marina Alabado, a renowned marine biologist, went missing during an expedition off the coast of Chile. The research vessel she was aboard reported last contact three days ago, and search and rescue operations are underway. Dr. Alabado is known for her groundbreaking work in marine conservation and was leading a team to study endangered marine species."**

Dada’s world spun. She felt the room close in around her as she read the article again, trying to make sense of it. Eva entered the kitchen, noticing Dada’s distressed state.

“Dada, what’s wrong?”

Dada handed her the phone, unable to find the words. Eva’s eyes widened as she read the article.

“Marina… She’s missing?” Eva’s voice was filled with shock and worry.

Dada nodded, her voice trembling. “She didn’t tell me her expedition was starting this soon. And now she’s gone…”

The reality of the situation hit them both hard. Marina, Dada’s partner and their dear friend, was missing at sea. They immediately decided to call the authorities to get more information.

After several tense hours, they managed to get in touch with the rescue team handling Marina’s case. The news was grim but hopeful; the search was ongoing, and there was still a chance she could be found.

The days that followed were filled with anxiety and restless waiting. Dada and Eva tried to continue their work, but their minds were constantly on Marina. Dada felt a mix of fear and guilt. She had encouraged Marina to pursue her passion for marine biology, and now she was missing because of it.One evening, Dada was sitting in Marina’s studio, surrounded by her unfinished artworks. She picked up a brush, trying to find solace in painting, but the fear gnawing at her heart made it impossible to focus. Eva walked in, her face reflecting the same worry.“

We have to believe she’ll come back,” Eva said, her voice trying to sound firm. “Marina is strong. She’ll find a way.”

Dada nodded, tears brimming in her eyes. “I just miss her so much. I can’t imagine life without her.”

Days turned into weeks, and hope began to wane. The house felt emptier without Marina’s presence, and the waiting was becoming unbearable. Dada often found herself staring out the window, as if expecting Marina to walk through the door at any moment.

One particularly difficult night, Dada and Eva sat together, trying to find comfort in each other’s presence.

“She’s out there somewhere,” Dada said, her voice breaking. “I know she is.”

Eva squeezed Dada’s hand. “We can’t give up hope. She’s a fighter. She’ll come back to us.”

But as more time passed with no news, the reality of the situation became harder to ignore. The search teams had covered extensive areas of the ocean, and while they hadn’t given up, the chances of finding Marina were diminishing.

One day, Dada received a call from the lead of the search operation. The tone of the call was gentle but carried the weight of grim news.

“We’re doing everything we can, Ms. Dada, but as more time passes, the likelihood of a positive outcome decreases. We won’t stop searching, but we wanted to prepare you for all possibilities.”

Dada thanked them, her heart heavy with the unspoken truth. She hung up the phone and looked at Eva, who had been listening from across the room.

“They’re still looking, but…” Dada’s voice trailed off.

Eva walked over and hugged Dada tightly. “Whatever happens, we’ll face it together.”

One evening, as they were preparing for bed, the doorbell rang. Dada and Eva exchanged a confused look; they weren’t expecting anyone. Dada opened the door to find a weathered envelope with no return address.

Inside was a simple note, handwritten in a familiar script:

"I’m alive. I’ll find my way back. Love, Marina."

Tears streamed down Dada’s face as she clutched the note. “She’s alive, Eva. She’s alive.

The note reignited their hope. Marina was out there, somewhere, trying to make her way back to them. Dada and Eva vowed to keep their faith alive, their hearts buoyed by the promise of Marina’s return.
