The vile

This story is about a hero who keeps herself on the downlow but is found by her old boss.

Hopper, our main and fierce mama bear [not literally but you'll see that later] on a walk one day with her son 18 year old Mike, and 9 year old daughter Aaliyah. Suddenly a gray Lexus 570 off-road luxury SUV pulls up beside her snatching up Mike and before she could shout or get a hold on Mike the car sped off.

"Aaliyah, are you ok?" Hopper kneels down asking Aaliyah who had been knocked into the grass.

"Yes, is bubba ok?" Aaliyah replies as Hopper picks her up.

"He'll be fine," she reassures Aalliyah.

Hopper walks with Aaliyah on her hip. As she gets back to her apartment and just as she expected, there's a note taped to her door labeled "To hopper (:<".

"Childish," she whispers under her breath as she pulls the note off the door and opens the door. She walks in her apartment. The apartment is trashed, her couch is flipped and torn, the TV is smashed and ripped off the wall, and her glass dishes are smashed throughout the apartment. She's careful not to step on anything broken. She curses under her breath as she walks.

She lays Aaliyah in her bed [who had fallen asleep] then leaves the room. She turns on her phone to call Maylen her closest ally...

"Hello? What is it?" Maylen answers tiredly.

"Get on your app thing and tell me where my boy is," Hopper says calmly and firmly, "Huh, what do you mean? Did you lose him in a store again, or did he run away? What happened?" Maylen says he is still slowly waking up but is now more invested in what's happening.

"Worse HE got to him," Hopper says leaning on a wall on her balcony watching the city like a hawk.

" Oh.." Maylen says with a sound of recognition.

Maylen goes silent for a while, the sound of typing coming through the phone. Hopper paces on her balcony until Milo, her pet jaguar, pokes his head out of the door with a soft purr like growl.

"What troubles you, dear?" Milo asks as she rubs his giant head against Hopper's leg.

"It's just, THEY got Mike..." Hopper says back to Milo as she scratches behind Milo's ear.

"Uhhh, why are you purring and growling into the phone?" Maylen suddenly asks.

"No reason. Did you find my boy?" Hopper says.

"Oh right yea, but are you sure you want to go? I mean it's pretty far plus you'd be leaving Aaliyah at a critical time in her life?" Maylen says concerned.

"Well... you can look after her!" Hopper says quickly

"WAIT, WOAH WHA-!" Maylen is now wide awake and before he could protest, Hopper hangs up.

"Damn...might as well start cleaning," Maylen mutters to himself as he looks around his messy dark apartment.

A few hours later there's a knock at Maylen's door, Maylen sighs as Hopper just opens the door inviting herself in.

"Well, just let yourself in, why don't you?" Maylen says from his couch.  Hopper looks around before throwing a duffle bag at Maylen. Maylen catches the bag confused.

"What's this for?" Maylen asks, confused.

"It has all the stuff you'll need in case Aaliyah does start transforming," Hopper says as she sits Aaliyah down on the couch next to Maylen.
