The morning sun filtered through the thin curtains of Amara's room, casting a soft glow on her face. She stirred slowly, her thoughts drifting back to the previous day spent with Tayo. A small smile played on her lips as she recalled his gentle reassurances and the warmth of his presence.
"Amara, you awake?" Aliyah's voice called from the hallway, breaking her thoughts.
"Yeah, I'm up," Amara replied, sitting up and stretching. She could hear the sounds of breakfast being prepared, the familiar clinking of pots and pans.
As she made her way to the kitchen, the aroma of frying eggs and toast filled the air. Aaliyah was bustling around, her movements efficient and graceful.
"Morning, Liyah," Amara greeted, sliding into a chair at the table.
"Morning, sleepyhead. How'd you sleep?" Aliyah asked, glancing over her shoulder with a smile.
"Better than usual," Amara admitted. "Yesterday didn't end as badly as I thought."
Aliyah raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Do tell."
Before Amara could respond the doorbell rang, interrupting their conversation. Amara set her mug down and got up to answer it.
"Hey, Kamila," Amara greeted as she opened the door. Kamila stood there with a wide grin, a bag of muffins in one hand and a mischievous sparkle in her eyes.
"Hey, girl! Brought some breakfast," Kamila said, stepping inside.
"Come on in," Amara said, closing the door behind her. "Liyah, Kamila's here!"
Aliyah just walked out from the kitchen, holding her toast in one hand and Amara's mug in the other, she placed the mug down on the table and waved from the couch. "Hey, Kamila! You're just in time for the best part of our lazy Saturday—breakfast and gossip."
Kamila laughed, walking towards the couch and plopping down next to Aliyah while setting the muffins on the coffee table. "You know I wouldn't miss that for the world."
"So, what did I miss?" Kamila asked as she got herself comfortable.
Amara exchanged a look with Aliyah, who smirked and nodded toward Kamila. "Amara was just about to tell us about her good day yesterday."
Kamila's eyes widened with interest. "Spill the tea, girl. What happened?"
Amara hesitated, glancing at Aliyah for support. "Well, I went to Tayo's place yesterday."
Kamila's eyes lit up mischievously. "Oh really? And how was that?"
"It was...nice," Amara said, trying to sound casual. "We talked mostly about Craig and just...caught up, you know how that goes."
"Just caught up?" Kamila echoed, her tone teasing. "Nothing else?"
Amara slightly felt her cheeks warming up. "Well and we had dinner with his grandma. She's really sweet."
"Ah, the infamous Tayo's grandma. I've heard she's quite the character," Kamila said, nudging Amara playfully. "So, did he look at you with those dreamy low eyes of his?"
"Kamila!" Amara protested, though she couldn't help but smile. "Be so for real right now."
She said as she sat down on the other side of Kamila, grabbing a muffin. She quickly changed the focus to Kamila. "So, Kamila, what's new with you then?"
Kamila's eyes sparkled as she leaned in, lowering her voice dramatically. "Well, funny enough, I heard something interesting from my brother."
Aliyah raised an eyebrow. "Mm what did he tell you" she asked while she took a bite of her toast.
