Amara sat at her desk, the soft light of the afternoon filtering through the curtains and casting a warm glow over her room. She was multitasking, her phone propped up on her vanity as she FaceTimed Kamila while also laying out her makeup on the desk.

Kamila's face filled the screen, her wide smile contagious as she watched Amara fuss over her cosmetics. "So, tell me about yesterday," Kamila urged, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. "You two finally talked, huh?"

Amara rolled her eyes, but there was a faint smile tugging at her lips as she started applying foundation. "Yeah, we talked. We've come to an understanding...I guess," she admitted, her voice casual but with an undercurrent of relief.

Kamila leaned closer to her phone screen, her expression both teasing and unsurprised. "I knew, it wouldn't take long before you guys started talking again. You two want each other so badly, I'm just waiting for the day you'll both actually admit it."

Amara paused, her makeup brush hovering over her cheek as she shot Kamila a playful glare through the screen. "Please, Kamila. You make it sound way more deeper than it is, it's not what you think," she says, though the light in her eyes betrayed her amusement.

Kamila shrugged, her grin unrelenting. "Hey, you know what the saying is, if the shoe fits..." she trailed off, her voice lilting with mock innocence.

Amara shook her head with a laugh, focusing back on her makeup. As she blended the foundation into her skin, her phone buzzed on the desk, catching her attention. Without thinking, she reached for it, her fingers moving swiftly across the screen as she opened the message. Her heart gave a little leap when she saw Tayo's name.

Kamila, always observant, raised an eyebrow as she noticed the quick change in Amara's focus. "Who's got you all smiley and tapping away like that?" she asked, her tone a blend of curiosity and mischief.

Amara's fingers paused mid-reply as she bit her lip, trying to stifle a grin. "It's nothing," she mumbled, but the way her smile grew wide, gave her away straight away.

Kamila's eyes narrowed playfully. "Girl, I have never seen you drop everything just to grab your phone because you got a text. So spill."

Amara sighed, knowing there was no use in hiding it. "It's just Tayo. He's asking if he can still see me today and that he's planned something" she confessed, the words tumbling out quickly as if saying them faster would make them less significant.

Kamila's face softened into a knowing smile. "Aww, that's actually so cute of him," she cooed, her tone teasing but genuine.

Amara couldn't help but smile back as she put her phone down and resumed her makeup. She felt a flutter of nerves and excitement at the thought of seeing Tayo later, but she quickly tried to focus on getting ready instead of overthinking it.

A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Yes, Come in," Amara called out, her eyes still on the mirror as she carefully applied her cluster lashes.

Aliyah walked in, her brows arching as she took in the sight of her sister's half-finished makeup and the various products spread out on the desk. "Wow here is a mess, where are you going?" she asked, curiosity lacing her voice.

Before Amara could respond, Kamila's voice piped up from the phone, loud and clear. "She's linking up with Tayo!" Kamila's playful tone was laced with a dramatic flair as she dragged out Tayo's name.

Aliyah's eyes widened slightly before she grinned. "Oh, I forgot that's happening today," she said, moving closer to the phone to wave at Kamila. "Hey, babe! How you doing?"

Kamila waved back, her smile brightening at the sight of Aliyah. "I'm good, how are you, girl?" she replied warmly.

While the two chatted, Amara continued with her makeup, the familiar rhythm of their voices in the background a comforting presence.

After a few moments, Amara spoke up, her tone casual but with a hint of mischief. "Since I'm probably going to be out for a while, I don't think I'll be around to eat dinner, Aliyah."

Aliyah turned her attention back to her sister, a smirk playing on her lips. "Mhm, you don't seem to mind that either" she teased. "Tayo better treat you well then, make sure you're eating good."

Kamila chimed in, her voice confident. "Oh, he will treat her well Aliyah, don't even think about it." she assured, her tone half-joking but filled with conviction.

Amara rolled her eyes at both of them, though she couldn't suppress a smile. "Well, I hope he does anyway because I actually ate with my makeup today," she says, glancing at herself in the mirror and admiring her handiwork.

Kamila's voice cut through the conversation again. "Yeah you are looking so edible right now but what are you planning on wearing anyway? It's a bit cold outside today."

Aliyah nodded in agreement, chiming in with her own warning. "Yeah, you better wear something appropriate because if you catch a cold, we will have problems."

Amara waved off their concerns with a playful scoff. "Yeah, yeah, whatever," she said, standing up and making her way to her wardrobe. As she rummaged through her clothes, she pondered her options before deciding on something simple yet stylish.

She pulled out a black hoodie and a pair of black leggings, holding them up for approval. "I'm just going to go for a casual look today then," she announced, turning to her sister and Kamila for their verdict.

Aliyah and Kamila both nodded in approval, their expressions showing they were satisfied with her choice. Amara sighed in relief, feeling the tension ease slightly now that her outfit was decided.

"Okay, I'm going to take a shower now. Out, out, out!" Amara said, her voice firm but playful as she ushered Aliyah out of her room.

Aliyah laughed as she allowed herself to be pushed toward the door. "Okay, okay, no need to push me. Wow," she joked, glancing down at Kamila on the phone. "The Tayo effect," she added in a mock-serious tone.

Kamila giggled through the screen, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Right."

Now that her room was finally clear, Amara headed to the bathroom, taking a deep breath as she tried to calm the butterflies in her stomach. The shower was warm and soothing, and by the time she finished, she felt refreshed and ready to face the evening ahead.

Amara dressed quickly, her hands moving with practiced ease as she slipped on the black hoodie and leggings. She sprayed her favorite perfume, the familiar scent grounding her as she took one last look at herself in the mirror.

"Aliyah, do you still have my phone?" Amara called out as she grabbed her bag, her voice echoing through the hallway.

"No, it's in the living room charging!" Aliyah shouted back from her room.

Amara nodded to herself, making her way downstairs to retrieve her phone. She picked it up, tapping the screen to check the time—5:45 PM. "Okay, I need to start heading out now," she muttered to herself, feeling a small surge of adrenaline as the clock ticked closer to her meeting time with Tayo.

She quickly went back upstairs, knocking on Aliyah's door before poking her head inside. "I'm leaving now. I've taken the keys, so don't stay up waiting for me," she said, her tone serious as she looked at her sister.

Aliyah looked at her with mock offense, crossing her arms. "What? I won't stay up, but you need to keep me updated. And if you need me to pick you up after, let me know," she said, her voice full of concern as she met Amara's gaze.

Amara couldn't help but smile at her sister's protectiveness. "Okay, Mum," she teased, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she made her way around the room to give Aliyah a quick hug. "I'll see you later."

"Okay, have fun... and keep me updated!" Aliyah called after her, watching as her sister headed back downstairs.

Amara paused at the door, checking her reflection in the mirror one last time. She adjusted her hoodie, taking a deep breath as she prepared herself for the evening ahead. With one final glance, she opened the door, locked it behind her, and stepped out into the cool evening air, ready to see what the night would bring.
